The Final Push
It has been half a year since our last Kickstarter campaign where you all helped us achieve our modest goal.
Thanks to your generosity, we raised $5,855. Before we got the money, here are the deductions:
- Kickstarter Fees
- Amazon Fees
- Dropped backers or uncollected pledges
- Money set aside for rewards
- Fees to get the money to Canada
With $3,500 left, combined with our own money, we paid for software licenses, music, art, animation and voice acting commissions.
That's it, it's all gone. $3,500 is a lot of money but it's a tiny fraction of what it costs to produce a game.
We're not saying we're broke. The project is still self funded and we're doing work as usual.
We've gotten offers from a number of investors and publishers to fund LCH and/or future titles, as well as offers to buy the rights to LCH outright. As tempting as some of these offers are, we want to continue as is, retain creative and operational control and see what we can do and where we can go with this, our first ever project.
Individual members of the group have also fortunately (and unfortunately) gotten offers from other more financially capable studios after seeing our work with LCH. Some have decided to weather the storm with us but some have left the team. We appreciate all they've done for us, we're glad their involvement with this project has somehow helped them in their careers, and I wish them all the best in their new positions.
We are now in the final and most time consuming and tiring part of development: putting everything in, making sure everything works, testing, polish, polish and polish.
However, the deeper we get with our new game engine, we encounter roadblocks that limit our creative potential with LCH - mostly because of not having access to Unity Pro ($4,500) and the "Pro" only optimizations and features not available in Unity Indie ($800 - what we have).
For this very reason, we've decided to launch another Kickstarter Campaign.

Don't get us wrong. We aren't asking anymore from you (our awesome early supporters) as you have done more than enough for us.
This is a great opportunity for people who missed out on the first one or for people just discovering us now.
That Kickstarter page is a culmination of everything we've accomplished over the past seven months. Complete with a 10 minute long video and a ridiculously long project description. You don't have to back it again, but we'd appreciate if you clicked the "like" or "tweet" button underneath the video or tell your friends about it.
If you see new rewards (mostly with the upper tiers) you will retroactively be eligible for these as well if it belongs in your tier.
You'll also notice some rewards have increased in dollar amount. This is because we later realized that some rewards would cost way more than we were originally quoted including different shipping costs.
That being said, it'll be business as usual. Expect the same from us.
It'd be awesome if you helped us spread the word. :)
Take care.
