Update #1: Two Weeks Later
We've just passed the two week mark and we'd like to thank everyone for supporting the project so far!
Thanks to you, we've been featured on Kotaku, IndieGames.com, The Indie Game Magazine and various blogs and forums!
As of this minute, we are at 46% with 81 backers and just under a month to go. This would not be possible without you. Again, thank you, thank you and a thousand times thank you. :)
We'd like to take this opportunity to answer some of the most common requests and questions:
Marionettes, Custom Characters and Battle System
One thing a lot of people have inquired about are the Marionette designs - the themes we're using or general inspirations and concepts.
Simply put, our Marionettes are like department store mannequins. Once partnered with a host, the Marionette gets outfitted reflecting the person's personality.
We explore a lot of different armor designs. Our references range from historical to fantasy to futuristic.

This is a custom character for one of our earliest supporters. He describes his character as a student from the far east and wanted a blade wielding Samurai for a Marionette.

Concept Artist Tey whips out the Marionette designs and our Sprite Artist Ely makes them game-ready.
Here is the main character Sebastian's Marionette's first sprite form from Ely - exactly how it will appear in the game.

Here's a small demonstration to give you guys a sense of the fast-paced, almost fighting-game-like battles (Think: Tales of Destiny (Namco, PS1/PSP) and how the sprites will move from room to room. (Note: Prototype/Placeholder Graphics)
Team Updates
We're extremely excited to welcome two new additions to the team!
Chris Lewis Carter. A writer and fellow Canadian. As much as we love great art, we're also a sucker for great stories. This is where Chris comes in. He'll help us shape the world with his story telling and keep our commas in place. Since he had no part in writing this post, you now realize how badly we need him. :)
Chris has been featured on over a dozen publications – both online and print – including The Cuffer Anthology II, Word Riot, 3AM Magazine, Murky Depths, and Pseudopod. His short story, Halloween Knight, was recently published in Nelson Literacy 8, and he is a finalist in the chuckpalahniuk.net anthology project.

The Cuffer Anthology 2. Where Chris is featured.
Kael Inel. An illustrator and animator. Striking poses, aggressive lines and sharp character designs with a LOT of attitude. Kael is just what the doctor ordered. She'll help us populate the halls of Vermilion with more personality. Here's a sample of her past work:

This girl is so talented she can work on any canvas. Here's a quick sketch she did on a Nintendo DS.

Parting words...
Thank you for your continued support of Atelier Kontrabida and Last Class Heroes. Words cannot express our gratitude.
"Like" us on Facebook or send us an email (mail@kontrabida.ca). We love hearing from you guys. :)

Haha! Hey Cory, long time no see. I was planning on posting it last week but I felt like we didn't have enough cool material. I'll probably post it within the next few days or when the funding ends. :)
