Hi Shawn, I just directly sent yours again (check your spam folder if you don't see them) and re-emailed everyone in your tier to doublecheck that they are all ok.
Thanks so much!
Any news on when Shaping Shawls will be sent to backers?
Hey Shawn! It's the crazy time of year for teaching (I'm heading out again tomorrow!) -- as I just told Meg on the other thread from the last update, my fall intern and I have been digging through ALL the lists and cross-referencing what should've gone out but seems to have fallen into a spamfolder somewhere, or what wasn't available to go out at the initial backing but now is (such as Shaping Shawls) so we can do them all at once. We've been doing a lot of guesswork with the potential-spamfolder stuff because unless people tell us something hasn't come through, we just assume it did. When we do the big re-send from these new cross-checked lists, we'll send another update so everyone can check their inboxes and make sure things came through. Thank you!
Shannon, I hope you had a great time teaching. Can you give us a timeframe of when backers who selected "Shaping Shawls" should receive these ebooks. (e.g. If you don't get them by Oct. 15, let us know) Thanks!
Hi Gail -- as per the last update mail, I am not in the office right now, I am teaching out of town without full internet access (writing this from my phone) but I will cross check your sent items as soon as I get back from teaching in a few days. Thanks!
I haven't received anything. I had asked for pdfs to my Rav account. I know I sent a message earlier and you said you were overwhelmed, but I haven't seen pattern 1 let alone the books.
Absolutely -- let me send out an overall project update now. Thanks!
I saw on the Cooperative Press site an entry dated july 10, 2011 that the PDFs were going to be released before the print versions and to expect to see them in your inbox if you had pre-ordered. Can you give us an update, please?
I saw that Shaping Shawls has arrived from the printer...yay! Any ETA on when PDFs will go out to backers?
Hi Shannon,
I answered the survay awhile ago, but haven't recived anything yet. I'm Twinzmama on Rav if they can be sent directly to my library. Thanks! and sorry to bug you.
Hi Shawn & co -- as I mentioned in the last update, my laptop screen went dead (and then, to add insult to injury, the hard drive crashed) last week. We're back online now and we've been continuing to work our way through the lists. These are all sent manually, there's nothing automatic about it (alas), so apologies for the delay. Those of you who ordered ebooks that have been published should have gotten them this morning. Email me directly if you haven't. Thanks!
I have not received anything since I saw my payment go through. I know I answered the survey about which items I wanted, but then nothing. I have checked my "junk mail" too. 2 items were already published, and the 3rd was still to be published. If they are waiting on the 3rd item that's fine.
Got them! Thank you so much :)
Hi--I'd asked mine to be sent to my Ravelry account. I got one sweater link in my email inbox but the other three patterns (which were on the list) haven't show up yet. Are the Rav ones still coming please?
Hi Nikki! They were sent (I doublechecked the download software's logs) -- see your email, I pasted them all into one mail for you. :)
For everyone else: if you have 4 patterns on the way and chose patterns that weren't available, we're working our way through the list to ask you which you'd like instead. Thanks!
Hello, I have not received my .pdf package yet and have searched for admin@knitgrrl.com. Can they please be resent to ngkirkwood [at] gmail [dot] com?
Hi Anna -- Yes, the download link was sent the day the Kickstarter ended. Did it maybe get spamfiltered? Search your inbox for an email from admin@knitgrrl.com -- I can resend if needed, just email me at that same address. I tried to respond directly to your @uwm.edu email address and it bounced -- maybe that's part of the problem?
Has an email with the pdf rewards been sent out? I just realized I hadn't been paying attention, went to check my inbox and spam folder and didn't find anything. Just hoping I didn't miss it!
The Lexie bag is flexible -- I have a very cool vintage one here in a print that isn't available anymore, but if you like the newer ones, that can definitely be arranged, too. :)
Random question: do you know which Lexie bag is going to be included in the $350 reward? Will there be a choice, or do you already have something sorted?
THANK YOU, everyone! I was teaching out of town for the past few days, so imagine my surprise when I came back to find us so close to $8000! You are all miracle workers! 18 days to go -- keep on spreading the word on Twitter and Facebook and blogs and everything else, sometimes you need to remind people gently more than once. :)
Just wait til you see what we have up our sleeves next...
I like that you're doing PDF rewards because it limits the amount of physical resources that are being used. And as a non-business person, I imagine it's significantly cheaper too.
Shannon, I like you the first time we "chatted" via email. I'll do my best to support you as much as I can - keep working hard!
Congrats on passing the target after less than a week! This is such a brilliant idea! Thanks for letting us be a part of that which is just on the horizon!
The patterns and photography look beautiful! Looking forward to seeing all the publications! :-)
I love brilliant ideas (and knitting, obviously), that's why I'm backing this. Go, Shannon!
Way to go, Shannon!
Way to go, Shannon! This is a very exciting model, and I hope you get tons more backers.
Thank you, Amy! Agreed! (And this means we can be a little less frantic for the rest of the month -- I am so grateful for all the support we've gotten already, but just because we hit goal quickly doesn't mean we can't keep going!)
I found this on the first day via Twitter and came back today to pledge. Dang, we're a speedy bunch of knitting backers! Congrats!
Last I checked, "fiber arts community" includes crocheters, spinners, dyers, and weavers, as well as knitters. I plan to donate, even though I'm primarily a crocheter, because crochet is also an underserved niche and if one project can prosper, more will follow. I do not participate in Ravelry, though, not because it's primarily for knitters and the owners are knitters, but because the crochet community there whines incessantly about how nobody loves crocheters. We gotta love ourselves first! Maybe if this gets successful, someone will start one just for the other users of yarn too.
Great ideas. Because I am solely a crocheter, I do wish you did not refer to Ravelry as though it were exclusively a community for knitters: it also includes crochet, spinning, weaving, and dyeing. Your focus for your project is yours to choose and no doubt you have good reasons for it; it might, however, help to acknowledge that knitting isn't the only craft on a site that includes several crafts. This is especially true if you say things like "everyone on Ravelry"--if you said "all the knitters on Ravelry" the rest of us would not feel slighted.
Well you know not every one on Ravelry will kick in a penny because some of us on Ravelry are tired of being ignored. News flash there are crocheter's on Ravelry that only Crochet they don't knit. If you think that knitting has been ignored in terms of fashion forward patterns then maybe you should take a look at some book titles available as well as what is available on Ravelry. There are 54,776 crochet patterns to 159,172 patterns listed. Thankfully we do have some publishers indie and otherwise that are stepping up to the plat.
Congrats @knitgrrl for making your goal! Here's hoping your total keeps growing.
Amazing idea and I LOVE the preview. Glad I found this!
This is a fantastic idea and helping the indie publishing industry is great!
Great idea! You've got my pledge :-)
Can I just say I think this is a uber cool idea! Thanks for the chance to help a great product ... and indie publishing, generally!
Shannon always comes through no matter what. She's amazing and this company will be successful kickstarter or not.
Guido: you're the podcasting genius! I tried mightily in iMovie, to no avail -- email me if you'd like to give it a go.
JennAng: No, that's not the case at all. In fact, I've paid for all of the photography and other associated costs thus far out of my own pocket, using revenues from my own book published last year. This project has the potential for so much more, and some of it requires outside help that I can't bootstrap. Whether or not the project is funded via Kickstarter, the books will be published.
Good luck, also... please add a voice over to the video. It's usually the make or brake for projects I back. I like to hear someone tell me why I should back their project.
Yikes, you signed all those designers and had them do their work without having the means to hold up your end and publish them?? I really hope for their sake you meet the goal!
