@Steve
4) I have a pretty seriously un-DJ approach to how I want to use the Quneo and that is the main application as to why I pledged for one. It is more appealing to me as a hardware controller than a software controller, and I intend to integrate with my Nord Modular (which is something that is dying to get a high level of control, and is programmable enough to really use the Quneo I think).
I am very eager for this project to get finished as is everyone...but frankly I haven't had time since the projected delivery date to accomplish what I intended to with the Quneo anyway, so I'm happy to wait awhile. I agree that the update s could be more frequent, irritating that I have to keep checking back with the kickstarter page to figure out that no one has any idea what's going on... :-(
In general I like the fact that you are improving the product and it's application and not just fixing drivers, which means that we'll get a better product then intended. I know that it may be annoying to get many messages from us complaining, but it doesn't excuse not giving us frequent updates. even if there is nothing to update. just so we'll know that you're still there and paying attention to us. most of us are not investors, most of us are just people who got excited to join this new project. don't ruin the excitement :)
so.. good luck in finishing the product.
what worries me is kickstarter in general. from all the comments I've seen here and in other project it seems that kickstarter can't be trusted regarding due dates or even if we'll get the pledged products at all. at first I also thought that kickstarter projects will allow us to purchase these products on lower prices then when they would be officially released. i was wrong in that assumption too.
but still.. i love you guys, for me that's the most exciting project I've seen in kickstart.
now a question.. :)
I have Logitech g19 keyboard with an LCD screen. i want to be able to connect the QuNeo controller and to create graphical visualizer that will be changed based on the usage of the controller. I understood that the driver itself is open source.
is there an api that can be used to ease the creation of 3rd party applications ?
is there any information regarding the drivers and how they work?
can I get the api (if exists) or any relevant documentation before the actual release of the product so I'll be able to start working on the keyboard applet ?
thanks!
I'm happy your working hard on the quality even if it means delays but I'm not happy that your hand making em for vip artists to use... I often work on prototype gear and this wouldn't bother me but this is a kinda sale point that the early backers should have been rewarded with. Many of us early backers are artists on the cutting edge looking for ways to stand out . This takes alot of that wow factor away as VIP artists are getting units months before us initial backers. Not cool.
Hi Everyone,
I know this is off topic and on a different note from everyone stressing out but thought id take advantage of this massive community of tech heads (the forum seems dead so thought id post here!!)
Been a DJ for years but I’ve been slowly getting more and more into the performing live side, been wanting a Maschine for some time now and it was when researching it I came across the Quneo.
At the min my set-up is Ableton, apc40 (which I use for FX, launching and sequencing) and a korg monotribe (just for fun really) - I do have a midi keyboard but don’t really want to use it as want to perfect a setup that I can carry with me...
1) My question really is will a maschine be any good to me with the quneo? I can see all the possibilities of the Quneo but am I going to be able to switch between sounds etc like Maschine and generally have that workflow.
Any thoughts on how this could be done?
2) don’t know if anyone has seen the propeller head app - Figure???
It’s kind of like a kaoss pad or iKaossilator app
Would it be possible to play synths on the quneo's pads like in this app.
3) Maybe someone from team could answer - you said you have been in talks with Traktor?? How is this going?
The new F1 controller looks amazing and I can imagine using Quneo for the new traktor 2.5 instead. However, NI have said that no 3rd party controller will work to launch clips. YET… have you spoken to them about maybe getting the Quneo working?
4) Has anyone came up with any cool ideas for how they plan to use Quneo yet?
Hi,
Are the first 100 units going out to the 1st 100 backers this month?
Thnx
Rob, I completely agree with you. Sadly, this project is above average for Kickstarter projects as far as communication goes, and the later projects get the less information the backers get. I've backed over 100 successful projects. Only 4 or 5 have been on time, and only a dozen or so have had consistently effective communication. The rest either grudgingly give status after a number of backers ask for it, or they get downright belligerent with the backers (there's one project I've backed where the project creator has had the product for a while, and is now telling the backers that he doesn't really have to send us the pledge rewards if he doesn't want to).
I'm tending to agree with some of the posters here - that one of the greatest pleasures of funding Kickstarter projects is watching the process and progress unfold. I've funded five projects to date, and am totally addicted to the feeling of being a baby investor. The most successful, and fun projects, in my mind are those that treat their backers as stakeholders - posting frequent updates, cool tidbits about the process, inside jokes among the creators, etc. The original funding level was blown away by a factor of 10 or more, and there have been parts issues, so its not surprising that the original target date for completion was missed. In traditional project management, the basic rule is communication and a corollary is "no surprises for stakeholders." If an effort is made to continuously feed information to sponsors and stakeholders for a project, most if not all of the fear around delivery is eliminated or mitigated but that information.
A suggestion: hire an intern to focus exclusively on Kickstarter updates, much the same way you pay attention to your Facebook page. Once a week status updates would suffice, and they don't have to be long - just things like "still awaiting shipment of part X", "production is on schedule, we are targeting MM/DD/YYYY for delivery of the next batch of XYZ units", "ABC artist just did a gig with the QuNeo and here's her website - check it out" etc.
Its just this: the longer we get from January 9 (funding date) and March 31 (original goal for delivery) the more that fear, uncertainty and doubt creep into the minds of backers like me. Silence is not golden.
This all being said, keep on kicking butt, make the best product you can, and I'll be ready whenever you are to put it to good use, and forgive me for making suggestions on your business practices - they are done with love.
I'm really disappointed by your way of informing people which clearly helped you to develop quneo project. In case of such delay you should give regular feedback about current production state. Since the beginning it has been bad at this point...Bakers have to push you to get basic info (not to mention about poor quality of answers at comments section). We just want to know as much as possible about our investment.
Bakers from outside of US are still not informed about duty costs which is quite annoying. We paid you 50$ for shipping (for this kind of package it's not a low price) and it's not obvious that this amount covers all shipping costs. Euro and Dolar are getting higher because of Greece crisis - import duty has increased noticeably since last few weeks.
It would not be fair if we pay more than by buying it in some online store.
I'm sure that you're able to get this information. Not everyone live in US guys.
Best,
Hi Matthew and all.. we'll have an update out shortly, making good progress on both software and hardware fronts but will provide more detail soon. Thanks-Andrew/KMI
sooooooooooo...................................... An update would be nice. just a sentence or two? I think i speak for most as we are willing to wait for all the kinks to be worked out but just want to be informed on the process. Two weeks and it looks like none have been shipped out, cool, we can deal with that, but please keep us informed.
it's quiet, too quiet....
I think we might hear something soon. Wildly guessing within 2-3 weeks.
anyone knows when we get our quneo ???
Any news about that ?
I'm not upset by the delays - I'd much rather have a great, properly functional product.
The only disappointing thing has been the lack of updates. The whole point of Kickstarter is to INVOLVE the customers in the process. I recognize all the 1000s of hours of work that is going into this, plus the component glitches, etc. But that's where things like Twitter come in so that in 10 seconds everyone is sharing information. I guess I was just expecting a bit more community focus and just-in-time updates given the Kickstarter success.
Oh well, I'm sure I'll like the QuNeo when it gets here.
is there a way i can still change my shipping address? Thanks, and just happy your working the kinks out but it would be appreciated if you kept us posted. Even if its trivial, I imagine everyone just wants to stay informed.
Andrew, what about customs duties?! If you will send it with a receipt of $200, some ppl (like me) will have to add around $40 to get it!
please look for a solution.... maybe declaring it as a gift or i dont know....
Actually, March was over nearly a month ago - April will be over on Tuesday. Anyway, obviously none of us wants a buggy product. It would be nice to get more frequent updates. I don't think we need an exact ship date, but it would be good if you could tell us whether we're looking at a few weeks or a few months.
Yes, please work out as many bugs as possible before shipping.
Please! Thank you for the attention to detail. We are all just very excited to get them in our hands.
@Symonty (and all) We will ship our Kickstarter backers their QuNeos before anyone else, including Amazon, dealers, distributors. You will have them at least a month before anyone else will receive them. We are working diligently to finish the product and are committed to shipping a product that has the bugs worked out so while it is taking longer than projected, it will be worth the wait. We hope to have a more definitive update and projected ship date to you shortly. Thanks-Andrew/KMI
Estimated Delivery: Mar 2012?
March is over on tuesday, any update.
Oh yeah also noticed, Amazon has it listed for less than I backed it for ... $199.
Well maybe I will get mine before amazon starts shipping?
Not quite sure about this kickstarter thing so much anymore.
Would love to see an update very soon.
The question has been asked on more than one occasion - will overseas buyers have to pay import duty? As Steve said, it could potentially cost us more to support on kickstarter than to buy in a shop which doesn't really sound right or fair!
@Steve and all, don't worry, we are going to ship all Kickstarter backers before we ship any dealer orders, they are projecting a "ship date" but as of now, we haven't said anything more than a hopeful ship date of May to dealers, but of course that could change, but all Kickstarter backers will be about a month ahead of those ordering from dealers. We'll be posting an update shortly on our progress, things are progressing quite well.
Thanks-Andrew/KMI
Well Quneo('z) have now started to appear on shop websites.
http://www.gear4music.com/Recording-and-Computers/Keith-McMillen-QuNeo-3D-Multi-touch-MIDI-Pad-Controller/JV7
They seem to know more than the company giving 21st May as delivery date and its £199.
Not gona be happy if we have to pay Tax on this in UK!!!
As with paying extra for delivery this will mean we get it same time and have had to pay more then if id purchased it from shop.
any estimates on ship date? its was supposed to come in march when i backed this project...
When can I get my quneo...?
being a total egalitarian, it irritates me a little that celeb backers/endorsing artists get theirs before anyone else. That said, is there a date for assembly of new components and shipping for us regular backers?
The links don't show in the e-mail, but they do show on the Kickstarter page! Tried the editor and it seems pretty sweet! And the surprise! Wow! I wonder if we will see any videos from it's new users soon? :)
Got the update - but the links to the manual and editor are blank!
DK
Would love to see a video tutorial on how to use the editor! I understand it to some degree, but I'm sure there are things I am missing.
I'm eager to hear some news too, though patience, it's still 2nd April for them.
Hi Keith,
3rd of April here and no sign of an update!
DK
Sooo where's that update?
thank you!
@david and @keaton, We'll be sending out an update tomorrow to our backers-stay tuned. It will also include info on if you need to change your address. Thanks- Andrew/KMI
i agree
And now for the inevitable silence when the estimated delivery date gets missed... I really wish project creators wouldn't do this. I really don't have a problem waiting to get my product, but I'd like to know how things are going. Sure, some people will say "maybe they are too busy to post an update", but nobody should be that busy. If spending two minutes writing an update will make the product significantly later, there's something really wrong.
how do I change my shipping address and yes an eta update would be nice
Just reading back through some of the comments and I am also wondering now that shipping date is nearing, what will happen in terms of duty in Europe? Will we be charged an additional 22% by customs and excise?
Thanks for the update....eagerly been awaiting its arrival, but I'd rather you take the time to make it a stable product than to ship it early and have it not be functional!
Hi Backers, we are working non-stop to get QuNeo into your hands as soon as we can. We are finishing the editor, firmware, mappings and are very close to getting the final production ramped up for our first 1000 units, and will be shipping these units to our backers before anyone else. We are hoping to ship some units before the end of March, if all goes well, with the remainder going out in early April. We will send out another update shortly with more info as we get closer to the actual day of release. Thanks-Andrew/KMI
ship date? again.... you have my $ can i get an email update on shipping etc...
Yes please even a tiny update would be great, seems since you got into the limelight at NAMM etc you've forgotten about us!! I'm really happy for you but don't forget it's thanks to the backers!!
At least, it would be nice to know if you succeeded in making the 10 to ship in February and got them out the door, and the progress on the 100 units and follow-on 2100 units.
ship date?
Keith, may I suggest for QuNeo 2 (or maybe call it: QuNeo 3D) that you have (not 2 but) 6 rotary pads? For 3D motion control, it would be nice to have (3D x 2) 6 rotary pads for the 6 degrees of motion (rotation x 3 axes + translate x 3 dimensions).
I sent them a message asking this a few days ago, and they say that things are going well and they expect to ship in late March.
ship date?
@Craig Dunn
Thanks was too dead after CES to make it report on NAMM this year, thanks for dropping in on KMI for all the backers out there.
@Craig Dunn
Thanks for the info. Excited to receive mine.
