Trigger Men is a dark comedy that revolves around the lives of two best friends as they try to navigate the absurd world of contract killing.

UPDATE!: We made it to our funding goal! We just wanted to let you all know how thankful we are for the support, both financial and otherwise, that has brought us to this point! Any additional money helps us out a lot, and will make it so we can bring out more awesome content and make our convention presence even better! Mike and I are thinking cardboard stand-ups of Matt and Jason for one!

-------------------------

Trigger Men, our first series, is a dark comedy that revolves around the lives of two friends who make a living as hitmen. The series follows the misadventures of Matt and Jason as they navigate the absurd world of contract killing. Their exploits range from setting up their high school bully as a fall-guy to saving their favorite Chinese buffet from bankruptcy. While the comic is dark in nature, it is not gratuitously violent and it focuses more on the characters' wacky chains of dialogue and interesting relationships than the actions at hand.

We like to refer to the series as a "bromantic comedy" because, at its core, it is not a story about hitmen but a humorous look into the lives of the main characters and the people who surround them. We live in a small town and draw inspiration from our surroundings. Small towns are funny; they create a bizarre atmosphere by forcing its inhabitants to interact regularly and know more about each other than they otherwise would. By placing these characters into this environment, we can draw humor out of otherwise humorless situations. For example, if your favorite restaurant was being shut down, there is very little you could realistically do. Matt and Jason, on the other hand, decide to do some detective work and “deal with” the source of their favorite buffet's troubles.

Comic books are an amazing and vast medium for storytelling whose potential has largely been untapped. They can be used to convey stories in ways that other forms of media cannot, and the major comic book publishers just aren't taking advantage of that. Our goal is to make comic books that are entertaining and explore ideas beyond just spandex-clad superheroes punching each other. We chose to publish our comics independently to ensure our creative freedom and the consistent quality of storytelling without the usual editorial interference.

Triptych Books, comprised of Kyle Winters and Mike Andersen, was founded in Grass Valley, CA. We have spent the last several years researching how the comic book industry operates and how we can make it better. This company and these ideas are our passion and we will do anything in our power to see them come to fruition and be successful. We are asking for $10,000 in funding and we will use this money to print our first comic series. This will allow us to produce and print the first three issues in a six month period and, with time, will enable us to create and release new creative projects.
