This a pilot film about cleaning up garbage around Hawaii's Garden Island of Kaua'i, one hidden oasis at a time.
Malama Haumea is a fledgling, grassroots network of like-minded individuals and producers who are working together.toward common goals of cleaning up the land, promoting and supporting self-governing, cottage-industry manufacturing and occupying the giant spiral island of garbage in the central Pacific!
Project founder Jonathan Lane is using this pilot film, Malama Haumea "Caring for Mother" to fund present and future clean-up of special areas on Kaua'i and to inspire an ongoing island-wide awareness and beautification process.
Jonathan envisions the forthcoming pilot film, "Malama Haumea" as being a catalyst for launching a global awareness campaign to clean-up that garbage and other garbage around the world, one place at a time and then many places at once.
One of his brilliant ideas, which this funding campaign, the finished video, and on-going exposure may inspire, is to construct a manufacturing facility atop or underneath the giant island of debris to process the debris into hundreds of useful materials and products including a type of fuel that is made from plastic. There are also hundreds of other products and materials that can be made such as plastic wood which can be drilled, planed, sanded and used for a multitude of industrial and residential applications.
The possibilities are extensive and an important undertaking. Become a member and be part of a team that is making a difference locally and globally in the way of education and stewardship.

The total amount will be divided three ways Operations - Marketing - and Administration for maximizing effectiveness of present and future clean-ups and the filming, editing and broadcasting of those projects and presentations.
The $22,222.22 shall be divided into Operations - Administration and Marketing. Each department will have a budget of $7,000. The remaining $1222.22 will be used and accounted for as "petty cash" particularly when it is not clear which of the three departments an expenditure is made for.
All three departments are equally important. Admin is the People doing the work. Marketing are those affected by it. And Operations is getting the job done. To be most effective in this, the ongoing strategy is to just do the work. With funding the goal is to be more organized and capable. This means "Planning the work and working the plan".
Staff, students, sponsors, volunteers and other supporters work together with Admin to "Plan the Work". The the folks in Operations "Work the Plan". The Marketing staff "Shares the highlights" with you and the local and global community.
Operations- $7000.00 goes directly off the top to fund present and future operations: projects- finding and choosing sites to be cleaned, filming, editing and publishing the process of each of the clean-ups with before, during and after photos, video and testimony, then giving the finished presentations in hard and digitial forms to the marketing crew.
Marketing- $7000 goes towards sharing the highlights with you and the local and global community. This means posting daily and weekly YouTube videos and Blog entries with raw and edited footage which then goes directly to Facebook and Twitter. The best footage, testimony and music are blended together into something more compelling and fun to watch. When enough clean-ups have been done- enough to fill up a DVD, then a Master DVD is created with ample numbers of copies available for participating staff and crew, sponsors and those who are just coming onboard. Digital files, small and large and of varying formats and resolutions will be created every step of the way and posted to numerous websites and blogs. Some of the marketing money goes to create signs and posters, print-outs and cards, flyers and brochures. The budget includes having at least one capable webmaster with several supported volunteers working hours on their computers sharing links and uploads of photos, video, testimony and opportunities to be involved. Marketing is also "Outreach", letting people of all ages know that this is happening and they can do something similar wherever they are. Marketing's job is to both share what we're doing with the rest of the world and to inspire them to do something as good or better. Or they can just enjoy what we are doing from a distance. Either way, "Marketing means sharing" and that is why a full one-third of the funding goes toward this important part of the project.
$7,000.00 is for Administration- logistics, staff, volunteer coordination, office space, studio rental, computer and phone usage, internet, transportation, printing, licenses, fees and permits along with stipends and bonuses for money saved and a job well-done.
