About this project

Hey! My name is Kim Nunley and I’m a writer living in the San Francisco Bay Area. After screenwriting for nearly 5 years, I’ve decided to peel my butt from my computer chair, enlist the help of my close crew of friends and filmmakers and step behind the camera to shoot one of my own scripts, Sly Sylvester.

Sly Sylvester tells the story of Satchel, a thirty year-old metrosexual so desperate to find love that he pretends to own a kitty cat so that he can interact with the gorgeous pet sitter that has caught his eye. However, despite his preparation, his plan doesn’t go as he expects and he ends up in a debacle with his menacing landlord who believes that Satchel is breaking the lease’s strict no-pet rule.

The story is inspired by my own kitty cat, Peja, who to this day prefers to keep to himself and remains a recluse to visitors, often spawning a playful accusation from others that he doesn’t exist.

IN THIS TOGETHER

Unsociable cat aside, what's the real inspiration here? Well, in all honesty, we're huge movie nerds! And we're talking all shapes and sizes - we don't discriminate. Storytelling is what gets us excited.

We’re dedicated to making the best short film possible and we’d love to have you on our team. Making this film means the world to us. We're pumped! Every penny that you donate will all be used towards creating a better Sly Sylvester. Thank you for your support!

FAQ

  • Well, if that happens we will invite you all over to drown our sorrows in beer together. Just kidding! If we don't reach our goal and you've made a pledge, your card will not be charged and no money will be exchanged. But, let's not think about that.

  • Oh yes! Our fundraising goal is based on the minimum amount needed to complete the project. Any excess funds will be used to enhance set and costume designs and acquire better equipment.

  • If we meet our fundraising goal, we will immediately begin producing and shipping our incentive gifts. There is likely to be a delay in receiving the completed DVD, as we have intentions to first submit the project to film festivals. If you’d prefer to not receive an incentive with your pledge, there is a button available to select this option during checkout.

My name is Kim Nunley and I am a writer living in the San Francisco Bay Area. I spent thousands of dollars and seven years of my life studying Kinesiology so that I could train athletes to excel at their sport, until I finally decided to stop being a wuss and follow my true passion of writing.

Just recently, my feature-length script QUEEN TO BE was named a 2011 Austin Film Festival Second-Rounder. I was a Top 12 Finalist in the 2010 Cyberspace Open and my feature-length script, MY BROTHER MICK, was a semifinalist in both the 2009 Silver Screenwriting Competition and the 2010 Script Doctor Eric Screenwriting Competition. My feature-length action comedy, SUPER TED, was a 2010 Silver Screenwriting Quarterfinalist.
