A Christian kids comedy series, showing life's adventure with God!
The Idea:
DISNEY CHANNEL Meets SESAME STREET
For BIG KIDS
This last summer (2012) we were "playing with the idea". After summer ended, we looked at our progress and realized a huge potential. We decided to put together a pilot episode and gather the support to take this to the next level. This could be the next Sesame Street except cooler and for bigger kids... oh yeah, and Christian!
Kids Krazed is a witty Christian show for kids that demonstrates what "real life with God" is supposed to look like. Not ultra religion, not a hypocritical, watch-out-and-follow-all-these-rules-while-I-judge-you kind of life, but how God can lead us to an amazing adventurous life.
The Show:
Kids Krazed has some great characters like: Superhero Boy, Drill Sergeant, Detective Jones, Billy Hill (the Hill Billy), and a bunch more.
Q: But what if I don't believe in God? (you might ask)
A: Well the show is pretty funny too. It has real entertainment value and is safe for kids. (You won't have to explain any adult concepts to them at the dinner table, as they ask you about something they learned on TV that would make your mother blush)
The Money:
So what do we need?
Goal 1: $11,000
We need (minimum) one more professional camera rig for our shooting so we can produce 1 episode per month for the next year (12 episodes). We are working with children and that limits the amount of time we can shoot due to school. An extra camera means being able to shoot more than one angle at a time!
Goal 2: $200,000 (This is where the magic happens)
Shoot one Network TV ready episode per month (12 Episodes/yr)
- Professional Sets (8 sets) constructed as a neighborhood similar to the concept of Sesame Street ($60-$80k)
- A 5000 sq. ft warehouse (1 year paid approx. $60-$80k for the year including utilities, etc. and retrofit)
- Professional Lighting for all sets (approx. $15k min.)
- Quality Costumes ($2k)
- Small Stipend for Actors ($2k each for the year) They are already doing this for free, but it would be nice to at least pay for their gas.
- Additional Equipement ($15k)
- Props ($5k)
This may sound like a lot of money, but two episodes of Kids Krazed (45 min each) would be the equivalent of making a 90 min feature film for around $30,000. We would only be spending $0.50 for every $100.00 that Hollywood spends.
We can use Sesame Street as another example. They got started with an initial investment of $8 million. We can accomplish the same level and quality of work for $200k because we aren't starting with a massive overhead in salaries.
After the first year of expenses, our operating costs will be less than $3,000 per month. It is expected that our advertising revenues would easily afford the overhead and provide full-time salaries for cast and crew for years to come.
The Rewards:
Q: What if I don't want the incentive, I just want to support?
A: You are wonderful! Not a problem. Once you hit the "Back this Project" button there is a button you can select if you don't want the reward.
Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
"We work with children... enough said."
I say that jokingly, but we have to face the reality that life can be unpredictable. We might find ourselves in the position of losing a principle actor and having to re-cast a part if anything like school performance fails, which would further cause a production delay and lack of continuity.
In the cast that we experience any production delays we will be forced to extend the deadlines for DVD distribution and other marketing endeavors.
