Kid Meets Cougar (and their fancy filmmaker friends) have been scheming up some crazy ideas for a new projector-powered video triggering live show!
Kid Meets Cougar wants to make a new mind-blowing projector-powered video triggering live visual multimedia experience!
Uh... in other words... we would like to raise $6,000 to buy a new projector, make new "live visual" videos, and create a brand new mind-blowing live show!
First, a Little Background Info:
During our current live shows, we project videos onto a large projector screen behind our setup to visually enhance our music at is it being made. These videos aren't just played from a DVD at random times. We trigger each and every video that flashes behind us by tapping drum sticks on our special set of electronic drum pads. Each video clip is created to correspond and visually enhance a specific sound that we make. The end result: we are able to "play" video clips like any other instrument and do it all in perfect sync with the music. Super-fun!
These videos really add a neat new dimension to our live shows. Our current projector setup has some major flaws though: It has to be set up in the middle of the audience (blocking some audience members) or to the side (which drastically skews the video).
Our New Live Show Concept:
We found a new projector that is able to project incredibly large images from only a few inches away. Here's where it gets cool: With this new projector we will be able to project images onto ourselves!
Without going into too much detail or spoiling any of our ideas, just imagine a few of the basic possibilities: We could have our own scrappy lighting that pulses perfectly with the music, we could create video environments to engulf the entire stage, we can create videos that we interact with and respond to... wait wait wait... you know what? Explaining this new concept in writing just doesn't do it justice. The promo video above will do a much better job illustrating what we are hoping to create. Click that beast!
Donation Breakdown:
Our goal of $6,000 is made up of the following:
- $2,000 for a new ultra-short throw projector (probably the Hitachi CP-A100 + tax + shipping)
- $200 for a portable projector mount/ stand.
- $1,000 for the crazy new backdrop we want to create.
- $300 for miscellaneous expenses. (cables, road cases, backup cables, adapters, etc.)
- $2,500 to pay the fancy filmmakers making our videos. ($250 per video X 10 videos = $2,500). Many of our filmmaker friends have volunteered to make videos for free but we really feel that they should be compensated for their time and creative energy. $250 per video definitely isn't large enough to cover what they really deserve, but it will be a small way for us to show them we love them and appreciate their work.
Any money pledged over the $6,000 goal will go directly towards the filmmakers fund and towards making this show even more visually intense!
