What is the Adventures of Ledo and Ix?
It's a webseries! It's about two characters in an old-school video game. The first season was 8 episodes long and aired on Penny Arcade TV as well as traveling to film festivals all around the world (hello Slamdance and Rooftop Films!) Now we really, really want to make a second season, but we need your help!
What's the money for?
The money will go to supporting the artists who make Ledo and Ix. It takes a long, long time to create animation, and one of the reasons it's taken so long to make a second season is because I've been tied up with other freelance jobs doing design work and teaching kids. (In fact I've been kind of scared of and avoiding the thought of Ledo and Ix--I just felt really sad that I couldn't make more.) A lot of those jobs are wrapping up in January, and instead of taking on more I'd like to finally focus on making a great second season. Animating a great second season, actually, since it's already written and ready to go.
I'm lucky that some really great artists have gotten excited about working on Ledo and Ix with me. We do it because we love it--no one's expecting to get rich. But we do need to be able to make time for what can be a pretty full-time project.
What artists? Who?
You can find out more about the people who make Ledo and Ix after this next section....
Enough jabber! Tell me about the Rewards!
Yes! Here are some of the rewards we have lined up. Expect new ones soon, including ringtones from composer Chris Thomas.
The Kickstarter Postcard

We designed these limited-edition postcards especially for this campaign and we're only sending them to Kickstarter backers.
Posters

Original art designed by Emily for the Kickstarter campaign. Ledo's poster features sprite art by Esteban Valdez. 11x17-inch digital prints start at $25, and signed, hand-silkscreened copies start at $50.
Luck +5 T-Shirts

For $50 you can instead choose a hand-silkscreened Luck +5 T-Shirt, sure to keep you lucky.
Keychains

Little bead sprite keychains of Tiny Ledo and Tiny Ix. We're throwing these into some of the rewards packages as a bonus because frankly, we don't know how they're going to come out. (If they come out great, we'll offer them as their own reward.)
Be IN It
One of my favorite rewards is the chance to appear in pixelated form in an episode of Ledo and Ix. If you were an 8-bit video game character, who would you be?
Title Cards
Backers at the $500 level and above get their own 1-second title cards that are individually designed and decorated. These cards will look great back to back in the credits, and allow a little glimpse at the personalities of the people who love Ledo and Ix.

Sponsorship: Meet Ledo and Ix
Ledo and Ix aren't above selling out. They'll be excellent spokespeople for your product, website, or most cherished person. We might even be able to arrange an interview with them. At the $1000 level, Emily will work with you to create a unique animation you can share with the world.

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
One thing I've never done is created and distributed hand-silkscreened merch. I'm teaming up with artist David Mahfouda, who's experienced with the workflow, but I know it can sometimes be a challenge getting the right t-shirt sizes when you aren't running enough volume to just get every size. If any sizes are delayed, we'll let you know. Oh, and, it's important to note, images on this page are mockups, so the real things may look slightly different.
When it comes to the show itself, it is always hard making and keeping a regular update schedule! That's something everyone has to tackle when their goal is providing a reliable source of entertainment on the Internet. For the new season, I'd like to publish more frequently in smaller chunks, which I know will be hard. One of my goals is being more responsive to feedback and keeping everyone in the loop more, so if I happened to miss an update I would show my face and explain why, or maybe let Ledo and Ix explain for me.
