About this project
Last summer I decided to embark on an photo-making journey around Iceland, just as Kickstarter coincidentally launched. While there I became enamored with the culture and the landscape; returning home with some of the most beautiful images I may have ever made, a story that needed to be written, and an invitation to explore more of Scandinavia, by way of my travel companion and very dear friend Sandra who lives in Sweden.
In mid-May, I will be flying to Sweden, land of gorgeous, icy blondes, medieval cities and birch forests for ten days and mirroring my Icelandic photographic project. I plan on exploring Stockholm, the Archipelago, and possibly the more northern reaches of the country. My hope ultimately is to create a series of images similar in breadth to what I created in Iceland (which you can see here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kicey/sets/72157617315940340/), and a book with a travel essay that I will design and make available to backers via Blurb (by private invitation until I am able to find a publisher).
Essentially the funding will help me offset the cost of traveling to and around Sweden, including flight, trains, car rental, gas, hotels, and food. It also goes towards making prints for backers, including packing materials and postage, giving me a slight financial buffer while putting the book together, and purchasing proof copies of the book when it is complete so that it is beautiful and perfect for those that would like to own it.

I will set to writing as soon as humanly possible upon returning, along with designing the book. There will be 2 designs - a 12"x12" hard cover 'coffee table' version (approximately $75) and a smaller hardcover 7"x7"(which is more affordable to produce - at approximately $30) - I only mark up the base prices on Blurb a couple dollars so I am NOT making a bundle on sales of these books. I expect to have the book complete by the end of August, making updates available along the way.
