I'm late to this game(12-19-09), but I am really impressed by your photos on Flickr. I liked the small bright buildings in landscapes among the best. Too many seaweed type shots (as if Georgia O'Keeve were stranded on Iceland's shore with only a camera).

Jesslaine - I was just about to write to you to thank you and ask how you stumbled upon my work (I will have to go find you on flickr now!). It is crazy you mention Steph - we've been flickr-friends for 4 years and literally just met in person for the first time this last weekend. She was actually one of the first people I asked about going!

Kirstin - Thanks! I work digitally - I will be making the prints by way of either ordering them or making them on an Epson 3800 not sure yet - and signing them before shipping them!

I once sent a letter to Iceland. My Pappie suggested I do it.
He told me to make up a name and an address, somewhere in the world, preferably a long, long way away, and send off a letter - remembering to put my address on the back of the envelope. He said that one day the letter would be returned to me with 'address unknown stamped' on it, but he said it would have all sorts of other stamps on it too. I thought this was a very good idea. And yes, one day it came back to me from Reykjevic. :}

Yay!! Thank you so much! I aimed low with the goal just to make sure that everyone who pledged actually got their reward - but others can keep on pledging above and beyond, I am more than happy to continue to make prints for anyone who wants to own a little piece of my adventure!
As for a drink - I have heard nothing but bad things about "black death" so I might opt for something a little smoother going down!

the hotel I have my eye on I *believe* has internet connection available - and I am a speedy photo processor so the chances of seeing photos along the way is pretty good - though I am making a point of spending as little time in a hotel room as possible. Since the midnight sun will be in full effect - only 4 hours of daylight a day in the summer up there - I am hoping to do a minimum of sleeping - and maximizing my days on the road! I will be staying overnight in Djupavik so that I can check out the abandoned herring processing factory which is one of the very few buildings left in the town (which has I think 7 inhabitants?). Though I had never been much of a Sigur Ros fan, after watching Heima recently, I realized this town had to be on my list. Of course, the entire documentary has such breathtaking cinematography - I'd just like to move there, but alas I can't.
And since I tend to ramble, I will try to do some mini-blog post updates as well!
Sounds like an awesome project. Will you be posting some photos here while your on your trip? Would be a lot of fun to watch it unfold as it happens.
