About this project

THE OPPORTUNITY
Talk about a New York City debut - Nashville-based Coal Train Railroad has been asked to play the Meet the Artist Saturday family workshop series on 5 February 2011 at The David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center! Moreover, this honor comes on the heels of the Coal Train Railroad CD being listed in the December 2010 issue of Time Out New York Kids as one of its top 10 kids albums of the year!

This Lincoln Center performance is a golden opportunity that we simply could not pass up, especially given the serendipitous timing of the added bit of promotion from one of New York's preeminent entertainment publications.

THE CATCH
The performance is only four weeks after the due date of Katy and Kenny's first-born child!

THE PLAN
Katy's midwife and pediatrician have approved of the young family traveling from Nashville to New York City. In order to cover the added costs of airfare for Katy's husband Kenny, three nights in a hotel room for the family convenient to Lincoln Center, NYC rehearsal space, and the manufacture and shipping of extra merchandise to have on hand, we're turning to our loyal friends and fans to help us supplement Lincoln Center's honorarium.

THE NUMBERS
If we meet the minimum Kickstarter goal of $2000, every cent will be invested in the trip and performance (including paying our drummer and pianist). If we exceed the Kickstarter goal by up to $500, Katy and Chris will actually be able to pay themselves a small honorarium. If more than $2500 is raised, the excess funds will be used as seed money for a new Coal Train Railroad full-length recording in 2011.

THAT'S IT
Thank you so much for having a look and considering a pledge. It goes without saying that Katy and Kenny will have an amazing story to tell their new baby (psst...it's a girl!)
