1.1 is a public art project where I am collaborating with artists and students throughout the five boroughs to create 1.1 million life size images of children, one to represent every child in a NYC public school.
The life size portraits will be created by each artist or student in the medium of their choice after  workshops designed and conducted at every NYC public school.

1.1 began in 2011, in the last year over 10,000 portraits have been contributed and the project has been performed in 11 schools both in Brooklyn and Queens. In addition 1.1 was featured in a exhbition called I AM YOU/ YOU ARE ME at BRIC Arts' Rotunda Gallery this spring, where over 2000 kids were represented. I was in the NYTimes, The Daily News, on Brian Lehrer and 1.1 was recognized as a project and myself as an artist by receiving a Citation from the Borough of Brooklyn.

It was an INCREDIBLE year for both myself as an Artist and 1.1 as a project.

I am asking for your support to make 1.1 International.

I recently got accepted into a residency to spend the summer in Ireland where I will have 2 months to work in a new media. I will be creating video paintings for 1.1. I will be making my paintings of NYC public school children come alive through video.

I am asking for your support to help pay for my travel expenses to and from Ireland, for the materials I need to create my video paintings and for funding to travel to both Berlin and Paris to set up exhibitions for 1.1 internationally.

With your support I can take 1.1 international, bringing the voices of NYC public school kids around the world.

The images then will continue installed in schools, public spaces and galleries throughout the five boroughs and internationally. This monumental work will continue to bring attention to public school children across the city and generate dialogue between students, teachers, parents, administrators, artists and the public at large.
