1.1 is a project to create & install 1.1 million life size drawings and paintings of children, one for each child in NYC public schools

Hi Kickstarter, my name is  Kate Fauvell and I am a visual artist  living and working  here in Brooklyn, New York City, and I'm looking for your support for my project 1.1.

1.1 is  a project where I will be creating 1.1 MILLION life size drawings and paintings, one to represent each child enrolled in a New York City public schools.

 My project 1.1 is inspired by my teaching artist work with the  amazing kids of Brooklyn public schools. My goal is to call attention to the needs of children and public education.

I am trying to raise funds through kickstarter for the first major exhibition of a portion of  1.1.

I'm creating the first 150 of the 1.1 million paintings and drawings for an upcoming exhibition at Spool Mfg  an amazing, and large  6000 square foot gallery in upstate New York.

The goal is to create works specific to this beautiful space using paint, vinyl and light boxes then to transport and install them in the galleries in Binghamton which is about 200 miles from my studio in Brooklyn.

The estimated cost of the exhibitions is $1500 to create the new work, frame and then transport it.

I will also be given the opportunity to work on 1.1 at a residency I am doing this summer at the Contemporary Art Center , where I will be creating 2000 more life size drawings and paintings for 1.1.  It is partially paid for by grants but I need your help to raise $1200 to cover the rest of tuition plus supplies, so I can go away for the month of July and create this body of work that will be exhibited in the fall here in New York City.

Any funding extra will go to help pay for my studio, which I have been struggling to afford of the last couple of months, without it I could not survive.
