About this project
Hello,
I'm Kat Edmonson.
I'm a singer and songwriter based in Austin, Texas and am currently in the process of making my second album.
In February 2011, I was honored to receive a gift from the METAlliance: the amazing opportunity to record for two days at Avatar Studios in New York City with the legendary Al Schmitt and Phil Ramone.
Al has engineered records for many of the finest musicians in recording history (Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra, Sam Cooke) and Phil's production you've heard on many of your favorite albums ("Getz/Gilberto", Paul Simon's "Still Crazy After All These Years", Billy Joel's "The Stranger").
It was the time of my life.
The recordings that came out of those two days were so inspired and so wonderful that I can’t WAIT to get back in the studio and finish an album!
This is where you come in.
At this point, I can’t get back into the studio and make the kind of record I'm aiming to make without a certain amount of money.
Studio time is expensive.
So is paying for the musicians, the engineer, mixing the album, mastering the album, paying for the artwork, the manufacturing, the promotion, etc.
Recently, a friend of mine told me about Kickstarter.
It's a safe, easy way to raise money for my album.
and it's FUN.
I'm looking to raise $50,000.
I actually need more than that but I wanted to set up an attainable goal that we could reach together.
Here's the catch- If I don't reach my goal of $50,000 I don't get ANYTHING.
And you, dear reader, will not receive any of the fabulous gifts you would get for donating.
“WHAT GIFTS?!” you ask.
Oh, yes! If you donate money, I’ll give you all kinds of fabulous things in return.
For instance…
-I’ll send you advance copies of the album before it’s released.
-I'll call and sing Happy Birthday, Happy Anniversary, Happy Graduation (name it, I’ll sing it!) to you or someone that you love.
-I'll cover any song you like at my show.
-I'll let you come to the recording session.
-I'll fly my band to your house and play a show.
A full list of gifts is listed on the right hand side of this page.
Anything you can give will be GREATLY appreciated.
If you can't give anything please forward this link to a friend.
I've got 31 days to raise $50,000.
TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A GREAT RECORD!
THANK YOU for reading this and for watching my video (video by Ethan Segal).
See you on the flip side!

Connected as Kat Edmonson (5061 friends)
Kat Edmonson’s first album, "Take to the Sky" made many national top 10 lists of 2009, became a top seller on iTunes and Amazon, and debuted at #21 on the Billboard jazz charts in the first week of it’s release. After the success of her freshman debut, Edmonson went on to perform with Willie Nelson, open for Smokey Robinson and headlined at the 2010 Taichung Jazz Festival in Taiwan. Edmonson also developed a friendship with fellow Texan, Lyle Lovett after Lovett saw one of her shows in Austin. She opened for Lyle Lovett and His Large Band for a portion of their 2010 summer tour and performed the winter classic, "Baby It's Cold Outside," with Lovett on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno in December of 2010. Her single release, “Lucky”, appeared on the award-winning Showtime series, United States of Tara. Ms. Edmonson has thus far released all of her music on the record label that she co-founded in 2009 and continues to operate independently.
