well done guys!
Oooo so close!!! C'mon, folks. They are almost there. Give these guys your supoort--they deserve it. It's a dedicated bunch of folks who did good work and did not pay themselves a penny. Besides, this is way more fun than an MPR pledge drive!!
I would add a comment on why I supported this film with a small financial contribution and why I think it is important, if not crucial, for others to do likewise. As a musician who toils away full time at a non-musical job, I often feel as if the grants applications I submit are overlooked or barely considered because I'm not regarded as "all in" as an artist, meaning I'm not living in a cold water garret somewhere gnawing on stale bread crusts rescued from dumpsters while I devote every waking minute to either making art or foraging for food. This film was made by people who I think are very like me, they work hard full time doing something, largely teaching by the sound of it, again like me, and then sacrifice their spare time to their art, and probably a lot of sleep as well. Their creative urge is no less valid and their talent is no less developed. I view people like me as being "all in" to life, not just art, and every bit as deserving of financial support and encouragement as those who declare themselves full-time artists and who survive from grant to grant or leverage their spouse's income. I've seen this film. Part of me is awe struck. Part of me is twisted with envy. Please dig into your discretionary income and send it their way. They've earned it.
Drove down to Stockholm yesterday with my son to see the work in progress. Haven't been able to get it out of my head since. I found the film elegantly Bergmanesque in its pacing. Beautiful stills. Thank God for the scenes with a touch of levity. If not for them, I'd still be brooding.
Good luck guys-congrats on hitting the 50% mark!
