Color and Sound

Update #21 · May 4, 2013 · comment

Last year at this time we were in the thick of the kickstarter campaign and we posted a short update from the IFP MN Midwest Filmmaker's Conference. We're here again so of course we returned to the same place to post a new update for you. This year went fast, but we also produced a lot of work in that time thanks to your support.

This past week we approved the final color grading of Death To Prom. The team at Splice Here in Minneapolis are making this movie look so deliciously colorful, we can't wait for you to see it. It even surprises us when we see the difference a great color adjustment can make.

Next week we really tackle the sound and music mixing with the crew over at Undertone Music in Minneapolis, so just a few weeks left until completion!

We've been asked to send DTP to a few festivals so I guess this whole internet thing seems to be working, we have submitted to a few others, so we are entering the nail-biting stage of waiting to see who premieres our film first.

Also, the prom photos everyone submitted for the credit sequence look amazing. You will be pleased. If you still haven't sent your best/worst prom photo, you have about 7 days until we can't accept any further submissions.

Enjoy the video update and look for more news and blog updates over at the official site very soon (like this week).

Be well and enjoy spring!

xoxo,
Matt & Jeremy

Sundance and More Testing

Update #20 · Mar 3, 2013 · comment

A quick and very low-tech update for your weekend reading...

We went out to experience Sundance last year at the suggestion of another filmmaker. It was a ton of fun and we met a lot of very interesting people, as well as saw some great film premieres (Beasts of the Southern Wild, Keep The Lights On, etc). Jeremy was able to return again this year and reconnect with those people (and meet a lot more). The takeaway: you don't have to rich or famous to attend Sundance, just highly motivated. Parties can be difficult to get into, but tickets can be found for all the "sold-out" films and everybody is there for the same reason so don't be afraid to chat up someone on the bus or in queue. And ask for short meetings if you are a filmmaker. Make opportunities happen!

We have now had two test screenings of Death To Prom, the first being more technical than the second, but both extremely useful to help us refine and tighten the final cut of the film. We even shot a little bit more of B-roll (ie: the stuff that goes between or supports the main stuff) just to make it that much better. Everybody loves the characters, visuals, wardrobe, locations, and the soundtrack so we're pretty thrilled. We'll probably have another one just to check our work and then we should be on-track for final color and sound mixing.

Love to you all, this thing you've brought to life is nearing completion!

We take a trip to Butter City

Update #19 · Feb 12, 2013 · 1 comment

There are a lot of great creative things about Minneapolis-St. Paul, and one of those things is great public media with MPR, NPR, TPT, SPNN and more coming out of the Twin Cities. We just were invited to the SPNN studios to do a taping of Butter City, a show about "movie making with a Minnesota twist" hosted by filmmaker Joanna Kohler. She's a great host, with a great crew supporting the local film community. And it is always fun.

Afterwards, we stopped by Lula Vintage to record a video update. We scored Holly's great leopard print hat at Lula and they've got excellent vintage clothing for men and women. They are located near Selby and Snelling in St. Paul, so stop in and find something fabulous.

In the next update: visiting Sundance and our first test screening!

Thanks for being exceptional.

- Jeremy and Matt

What do we know about football?!

Update #18 · Dec 3, 2012 · comment

Jeremy met Vikings' player and Vote-No-Supporter Chris Kluwe this weekend. He's a funny guy! We love Chris for being vocal and taking a stand against the (former) anti-gay-marriage amendment. Thanks, Chris!
