The Color Feast Beasts

What started as a simple children’s story developed into an imaginative and inspiring tale, along with a handful of fun creations that jump from the pages. We are on a mission to fund the production of The Color Feast Beasts hardback book, eBook and 12” tall plush toy, as well as the remaining hand-painted pages for the book. So, that makes you a big deal in bringing this colorful world to life!

More On the Story
The seasons are a beautiful thing. We shape our lives around them, we dream about them, we are inspired by them. They can set the mood on any day. Probably the most fascinating aspect of the seasons involves the colors that define them. Showing our children the differences between each season and the colors that make them unique is as important as math, geography, or the alphabet.

The Color Feast Beasts casually teaches, but more importantly tells the story of magical creatures called Yooms. When autumn arrives, the subterranean Yooms travel above ground to gather the colors so they can rest for the winter. When spring comes, the Royal Sunbirds of Saint Magoo soar from land to sea, redistributing the colors amongst the earth.

After watching our video, you should have a pretty good idea of what you’re getting yourself into.  The Color Feast Beasts Complete Package goes something like this: 

 1. Color Feast Beast Bookmarks: Don’t let this color quest end with our book. Take the Yooms with you wherever you go! The reverse side is printed in line work, so you (or someone special) can color it to their liking. 

 2. The Color Feast Beasts—eBook Edition: For those of you who prefer the digital lifestyle, we’ll be releasing The Color Feast Beasts in digital form as well. So grab your iWhatever and enjoy our story with that special someone! 

 3. The Color Feast Beasts Colorable Poster: Why not experience the Yooms firsthand than by creating your own? These 11” x 17” posters are printed with a big Yoom for your child (or you) to color in or out of the lines. 

 4. The Color Feast Beasts—Tangible Edition: Paper is the new digital. What better way to enjoy a new, unique story than by witnessing the illustrations in person, with a beautifully printed 10" x 8" hard-bound book?! Follow our story of magical creatures that dwell in the ground and come up during the fall to store color for the winter. Use your imagination, along with clues from the book, to fill in the blanks at the end! 

 5. The Color Feast Beasts Limited Edition Plush Toy: We knew when we created the Color Feast Beasts that it was not something suitable only for two dimensions. For this reason, we have designed a plush toy to accompany this exciting story. Designed and fabricated using high quality, safe materials, this 12” tall plush Yoom is the perfect addition to any toy box. Don’t stop with paper—own a Yoom of your very own! Name it! Show it to the world! 

 6. Limited Edition Canvas Print of Cover Artwork: We are honored to present the artwork of Xiaogang Zhu in a big way. These oversized 20” x 16” prints display the original cover art painted for the book, so you can spread the color to your home or office! Artwork is printed on high-quality artists' canvas, for a long-lasting addition to any worthy wall.

 7. One-of-a-kind Yoom Painting: Sometimes a print is just not enough. We will produce a custom painting of a Yoom on heavyweight watercolor paper, signed by the artist, for you to hang proudly. Be sure to add a frame, so the colors don’t spill out!

Jason Mills | Concept Artist & Project Management 

Jason Mills is the Creative Director of Entertainment Design at Just Our Thought. With a background in animation and concept art, Jason has an undying passion for the arts and for creating visuals to support timeless stories. 

Andy Conrad | Writer 

Andy Conrad is a highly creative writer, artist, and multi-instrumentalist. His word-smithing has graced projects from some of the top firms in the country. Andy’s background in creative development, marketing and communications has led him to a new adventure—crafting marvelous tales for children and families to enjoy for years to come. 

Xiaogang Zhu | Illustrator/Artist 

Xiaogang Zhu is the Lead Illustrator at Just Our Thought. With a dense background in the arts ranging from theatre set design to theme park concepts, Xiao brings a classically trained hand to the children’s book and entertainment platforms. His rich, innovative style has succeeded in bringing many great projects to life. 

Curt Wilson | Prototype Development 

Curt Wilson is the Principal Industrial Designer at Just Our Thought. His precise modeling capabilities and knowledge of production technologies has led him to work on a variety of large-scale products. Curt is our go-to guy for making things real.
