Hello everyone! If you have watched the video above hopefully you now understand that Super BattleBall is a new dodgeball game show modeled after fighting video games like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat.  Players will compete in real 1 on 1 dodgeball that will be filmed in "green screen" and backgrounds and special effects will be added in post production.  All the matches will get this treatment and all of the enhanced videos will be placed online. If enough money is raised a 30 minute show of Super BattleBall will be aired during the Paid Programming time on KCAL9 or KCBS.

If you are new to Kickstarter, the way this website works is that people post their projects on here, and the amount of money that they need to make the project happen.  If people want to support the project and receive the "rewards" from the project, then people "pledge" money towards it. Kickstarter is an "all or nothing" system so the pledges only get processed if the goal amount is raised before the deadline.  So specifically with Super BattleBall, I am trying to raise at least $5,000 by May 9th to produce this game show.  When you "pledge", you put in your credit card information and the amount of money you want to pledge, but it will not get taken from your account until May 10th, and only if collectively at least $5,000 is pledged before May 10th. 

So please pledge something if you love dodgeball, every little bit helps! Your credit card won't be charged until May 10th, and only if collectively at least $5,000 is pledged towards Super BattleBall.

Pledge $25 and you can get one of the balls that we use to play Super BattleBall signed by Justin Hill, creator of Super BattleBall. This reward can only be shipped within the continental United States.

Pledge $50 -PLAY Super BattleBall. The enhanced video of your games will be uploaded to Youtube, and may be aired on TV.

Ultimately I want to pitch this show to major networks and get it picked up as regular show. But in effort to make funding this project as beneficial as possible to all backers I have also come up with these options.

ADVERTISING OPPORTUNITIES

All of the matches from the Super BattleBall tournament will be placed on Youtube. "Dodgeball" is searched for more than 300,000 times per month according to Google Analytics April 2012.The nice thing about advertising on the actual Youtube video is that once it goes online,  your one time rate will buy you compounding views forever.  

Pledge $100 -CORPORATE PLAYER SPONSORSHIP

For $100 you can add a company name or company website and tagline to the fight card that will display before your match. This is an add-on so there must be two pledges. $50 for the player to play and $100 to display your  company's info.  This ad will be seen on the players Youtube videos and on the TV airing if that funding goal is reached and that player is in the final match.

Pledge $250 -GAME SPONSOR

For $250 you can get a 5 second "this game is brought to you in part by (your name here)" before one of the first round games. This ad will be seen on the Youtube videos only.

Pledge $500 -QUARTER FINAL GAME SPONSOR

For $500 you can get a 5 second "this game is brought to you in part by (your name here)" before one of the quarter final games. This ad will be seen on the Youtube videos only.

Pledge $1000 - SEMI FINAL GAME SPONSOR

For $1000 you can get a 5 second "this game is brought to you in part by (your name here) before one the the semi-fimal games. This ad will be seen on the Youtube videos only.

Pledge $5000 - FINAL GAME SPONSOR

For $5000 you can get a 5-10 second "this game is brought to you in part by (your name here) for the final game. This ad will be seen on the Youtube video and on the TV airing.

Pledge $10,000 - Official Super BattleBall Sponsor

Pledge $10,000 and become Super BattleBall's official sponsor. You can get a 5 second advertisement for your company before or after every match online, and you will also receive three 5 second advertisements during the television show. 

Why Super BattleBall needs your funding:

Here is the budget to throw this Super BattleBall tournament per 100 people:

$1500 - location rental for 1 weekend

$350 x3 camera operators

$250 light rentals

$250 lighting set-up pre production

$450 - dodgeballs, nets, mats

$500 - kickstarter and amazon fees

$1000 - basic editing with backgrounds and limited VFX

$5000 total

If $3,000 is pledged over the basic production budget for Super BattleBall then a 30 minute television show will be placed on KCAL 9 or KCBS. The show will consist of highlights from the most liked matches from all the players, and the championship matches.   The show will be aired on "block time" (Paid Programming) normally reserved for infomercials so it would most likely be around 2-3am.  You will want to join our mailing list and add us on facebook to be informed of the exact date, time and station, and then set your DVR! 

As with any video that involves special effects, the more money and time spent on it the better it will look.  I have drafted this budget as low as possible because I think it will still be awesome and entertaining if the special effects are a little corny.  But the more money raised, the more that can also be spent on the VFX.

This will be the most spectacular footage in existence of real dodgeball action, and you could be a part of it!

Below are fine print details about competing in the tournament

*Depending on how many girls sign up we may make girl vs girl and guy vs guy divisions, otherwise initial matches will be drawn at random. 

*Matches will be 1 on 1. 3 point matches, first player to win 3 matches wins that game. 5 minute max games. Elimination style. Winner continues. 

*Players will be confined to a square during gameplay. Players will start out each match with 2 balls each. There are not going to be back walls for the balls to rebound off but awesome gameplay will result in being rewarded with an extra ball from a "ball boy" that will be off camera. Throw a successful strike with your last ball and get rewarded a ball.  Dodge your opponents strike while you have no balls, get awarded a ball. Dance/Taunt for 5 seconds and get awarded a ball!  Players will not get rewarded a ball if they allready have 2 balls. 

*Additional footage of players will be filmed to mix in with the game-play footage to make it more cinematic. Such as: walking on the the battleground, saying their catch phrase taunts to their opponents, various expressions, etc

*Full rules will be emailed and posted to all competitors before the tournament. The tournament date is prospectively June 2nd, 2012 in  Los Angeles, CA. 

*There will not be any refunds so if the shoot date changes and you are not able to make the event, I am sorry.  If I am able to throw another tournament like this I will let you play for free. 

*Super BattleBall is not responsible for your transportation, lodging, food, or any other related cost to your participation in the tournament.  We will do our best to give you as much lead time as possible if we need to change the tournament dates.We will also do our best to keep you entertained while you are not competing on camera.  Additional off camera dodgeball games and entertainment will be going on throughout the tournament :)

*You must be at least 18 years old to compete in the Super BattleBall tournament.

*Super BattleBall reserves the right to refuse your participation in the Super BattleBall tournament and not include you or your company name in the video footage for any reason. This is going to be a fun event, which will be filmed and uploaded to Youtube.  If your participation in any way jeopardizes these objectives you will be ejected.
