About this project

The hourglass has nearly run out of sand.....

And my film could sure use a boost. At the moment, I am in Ireland, shooting a
musical documentary on the greatest instrument in the world: the Uilleann Pipes!
I'm working on the film against a loan that has dwindled to zero. But I WON'T go
home until the shooting schedule has completed; the project is too important.
KickStarter has given me a unique opportunity to keep the wheels on (lawfully...)
and I thank all of you backers for your support!

No alluring prospect of gain or glory prompted me to start this project... work
simply needed to be done to archive the pipes at this stage....and there was
so much beauty in the sound, intrigue in the history, and such characters
playing this fantastic instrument, a feature documentary began...

And since that revelation, I have been dreaming and pushing and scheming
and screaming and scraping to make this film. It's been 5 years cooking
and a perfect window of time remains to finish what I have started.

More about the instrument and project can be found: OVER HERE

It's vital to know that, while the instrument itself is well-played, an Irish piper,
leading dances and harrowing souls, remains a fleeting character, even in his
native Ireland. Compounded by the spartan few master pipe makers churning
out classic pipes....light should be cast on the Irish piping tradition!

And some kind of original film is in the works..... So please help keep
this project afloat and spur me on towards the finish line! The more support that
pours in, the more stories we can gather, and greater audience we can reach!

All the best,

Davis

Mr. Watson is an independent filmmaker and head of Junto Rímur Films. His last short documentary on an isolated southern stretch of Appalachia led to a tremendous outreach campaign for two of the main characters. He also runs Rail Nashville, an experiential website on Tennessee rail lines. In addition, Mr. Watson is an avid piper and has, for the past seven years, done his very best to play the Uilleann Pipes, the characteristic national bagpipe of Ireland.
