About this project

*I HAVE POSTED A TEASER FROM ONE OF THE CHAPTERS!  CLICK OVER TO THE UPDATE PAGE TO READ.'

How many times have you been to Disneyland and wondered what it would be like to work there?  Have you ever been on the Jungle Cruise when you saw Cast Members do something, or say something, and thought, "Is that allowed at Disneyland?"

Confessions of a Jungle Cruise Skipper is the true story of the antics that take place on Disneyland's famous river adventure.

They are the stories that I've only shared with close friends, and fellow ex-Skippers.  These are the ones that people ask me to tell over and over to their friends.  Some of their favorites include actual rats attacking my boat, pulling a Skipper from the river after falling in, the day I think I entertained a mob boss, and the night I jumped on a boat full of guests and kidnapped their skipper.  It will also include the odd things guests told us ("My wife lost her diaphragm") and weird questions ("Do they move the parade inside if it rains?").  The tales you'll read of practical jokes played on each other, and guests, would get people sued in today's world.

It's a world that includes comedy, guns, hippos and sex...but not in that order.

I have been working on this book for quite some time now, and am just a few chapters close to completing it.  While many have told me that I should try to get this book in to a publishers hand, there is no guarantee that they would take it.  I don't want to wait that long to find out.  I want to get this in to your hands as soon as possible.  The funds raised here will help me do that.

The funds raised here will help me hire an editor to get the book ready for publication, a graphic artist to design a great book cover, get the first editions published and in your hands, and will be used to hire a lawyer.  By raising this goal I can get the book out by early Spring of 2012.

We have a dangerous journey ahead that will be taking us through headhunter territory, but we'll be in the clear after we pass the backside of water.  So pass this on to every one of your Disney friends and help Confessions of a Jungle Cruise Skipper pull in to unload safely.

Move it up!

- Jungle Jesse

UPDATE:

Thank you very much for all of the "Likes" you've been giving this on Facebook.  I do ask that when you hit the button to let people know why you like it and why you think they should help.

It's approaching the final week of fundraising and there's quite a bit more to raise, and 100% needs to be raised in order for this to move forward.

I believe in this book enough to know that it is still possible to accomplish.

Thank you for taking the time to visit, and thank you very much for helping back Confessions of a Jungle Cruise Skipper.

FAQ

  • I was there from 1996 - 2001

  • No.  But if he was it would give a whole new meaning to 'Disney on Ice'.

  • Define "hard."  It's not something to do if you hate repetition or talking in front of people.

  • I'm writing this book because people keep telling me to.  These are stories that show the comedy of working there.  I've also seen some of these stories told 2nd hand in other books and on fan web sites from people who were not there.

  • Of course not.  Disney is an all loving company that never holds a grudge.

Last updated: Friday Dec 23, 7:35pm EST
  • Nope.  The Jungle Cruise is an attraction and not a part of the Entertainment Department.  That is the only department in the park you have to audition for.

  • This book will be filled with stories that no one has ever written about.  These are all true things that either happened with me, or I witnessed.

The other books also spend a lot of time talking up controversies and getting outsiders perspectives.  Quite often their version of things lacks the impact of someone who was really there.  'Confessions of a Jungle Cruise Skipper' is not about drama.  It celebrates the comedy with stories that every Disney fan will be share over and over, just as I have.

  • Absolutely not.  If anything, this will give fans a much different reason to appreciate all of the people that work there.  These stories are meant to entertain and make you laugh at the experience.
