About this project
First of all, if you're at this page it means you're considering backing an independent musician, and for that I want to thank you. You are the reason little folksingers like me can continue to do what we love, and the reason we want to give it all back to you in the form of great music.
The Project: Apples/Blossoms
I used to tell people I had a Persephone Complex. This was my way of explaining how my personality was different in the Summer and Winter months, and how I could be both extra- and introverted, alternately. Recently, I noticed that my songwriting has Persephone Complex, too. There were songs that I wanted to record, but didn't seem to "go" together... so instead of making a single album with them all mixed together, I decided to create two EPs - one for Winter and one for Summer. Thus, the idea of "Apples/Blossoms" was born.
I've had this album in the works off and on for over a year now. We've hit some big bumps in the road and some straight up "Bridge Out Ahead!" signs, too. I have new determination to continue and with your help, I know we can make it happen.
The Goal
My fundraising goal is $3,500. This will go toward paying for studio time & my producer (who also plays most of the accompanying instruments that aren't mine), paying my designer, and paying to have the discs and download cards printed & shipped. There are also a couple of cover songs on the album, and in order to legally release those I need to pay a licensing fee to the Harry Fox Agency which I estimate will come to a few hundred bucks.
Every single project backer will get email updates from me about the progress of the album, and sneak peeks into the recording process. I'll send you MP3 downloads of the album before it is released to the public. You'll also get a personal love note from me.
Pledges in higher amounts will have even more fun rewards, all of which are described over on the sidebar.
Best Birthday Ever?
The deadline for pledges is fittingly on my birthday. Meeting my goal would be the best birthday present I could ask for. Again, thank you so much for considering backing this album. Who needs a record label when I have fans like you?
If you haven't already, please come find me on Facebook and Twitter! I love having conversations with fans almost as much as I love writing songs.
I also have a blog over at Write. Play. Repeat. and my music website is, as always, Juliana Finch Dot Com where you can stay up to date on performances.

Connected as Jules P. Finch (995 friends)
Juliana Finch "sounds the way a good bourbon tastes." A Georgia-based singer/songwriter with strong Americana roots, Juliana earns her spot in a long tradition of storytelling songwriters with a sultry, soothing voice and carefully crafted lyrics.
Raised in the South, in an Italian-American family, listening to Irish music, Juliana developed a songwriting style that reflects a bizarre and fun cocktail.
Often compared to songwriters like Shawn Colvin, Mary Chapin Carpenter, and Natalie Merchant, she would fit in well with the Lilith Fair crowd.
Above all, her music is about connection and sharing stories. She believes everyone has a story to tell and tries to convey some of that through her lyrics.
She loves playing music festivals and house concerts because of the strong sense of community and joy fostered there.
Juliana has been featured at the Bele Chere Festival in Asheville, North Carolina, Ladyfest South, The Atlantis Music Conference, and was selected for the prestigious Falcon Ridge Folk Festival's Emerging Artist Showcase in 2008.
She has played songwriter showcases at such iconic venues as Eddie's Attic in Atlanta, the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, and been featured several years in a row at 99x's Unplugged In The Park Concert Series.
At the moment, Juliana is working on her 3rd album and is working on putting together a series of writing workshops for "average folks" who want to learn about the songwriting process. She is a member of the Folk Alliance and the Nashville Songwriters Association.
