Emmylou Harris Interview in the Can.

Update #22 · Mar 15, 2011 · comment

Last night the amazing and legendary Ms. Emmylou Harris interviewed for Charlie Louvin:  Still Rattlin' The Devil's Cage.  Ms. Harris was performing for Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour at The Lexington Opera House in Lexington, Kentucky.  Thanks to the guys at Cineline for lending us some gear, Keith, Brian, and Kurt for their always amazing work, Bryan at Woodsongs for letting us come in and do the interview, and Ms. Harris and her crew, especially Kevin Spellman for being so great to work with.

Last week we also interviewed Charlie's son and shot some amazing b-roll at The Smoke House in Monteagle, Tennessee where The Louvin Brothers Museum is located.  We have to say a big thanks to JD Oliver at The Smoke House for his generous hospitality.  If you are ever in the area, be sure to stop in.

It was a bitter sweet night last night as this interview pretty much wraps shooting for the film. We have some really cool b-roll that will be captured in the coming weeks, but essentially the entire film is in the can.

We will keep you updated as the full site, www.LouvinFilm.com, will go live soon with trailers and loads of visual stimulation as we look to premiere the movie upon its completion.

Thanks to everyone throughout the process.  It's been a great journey so far.

Cincinnati: Day #2

Update #21 · Feb 19, 2011 · comment

We have had a productive day today in Cincinnati. All the trailers are done and they will come shortly with the launch of the full website that is very impressive.

As Todd has fine tuned all the trailers, Keith, Jeff, and I have put together storyboards for the film almost 3/4 to completion. An image is attached of some of the boards.

While all this has been going on, Brian has additional stills. We will really try to hammer out as much of the basic story visually tomorrow from the beginning and finish the boards to the end of the film so Todd has a guide when he gets back to the Windy City.

Thanks again to all of you for contributing and I'll try to get you some info tomorrow as well.

Editing This Weekend in Cincinnati

Update #20 · Feb 18, 2011 · comment

This weekend the gang is all in Cincinnati working on the base edit for the film. Todd flew in from Chicago and I have driven up from Lexington to meet with Keith, Brian, and Jeff to get this film in the can as soon as we can. Our good friend, Mike Amann at The BLDG, who screen printed the prints for incentives, has given us a nice space to work in and we are hammering away.

Today we are focusing on getting a couple of trailers and teasers in please to get some eye candy to the world within the next couple of weeks and tomorrow and Sunday we will focus on the storyline for the film.

We also have a couple of more interviews to finish up as we are proud to announce that EmmyLou Harris will be appearing in the film as will Alison Krauss and hopefully Lucinda Williams pending her tour schedule at the moment.

I'll keep you all posted.

Mr. Louvin's Funeral and a Project Update.

Update #19 · Feb 3, 2011 · 1 comment

This past Sunday Brian, Keith, and I attended Mr. Louvin's funeral in Nashville. It was a great tribute and celebration of his life. Eddie Stubbs from WSM/The Grand Ole Opry/The Marty Stuart Show read his eulogy, an old friend Wilford Ray shared some stories from the road, and unlike most funerals where the PA plays "Go Rest High On A Mountain," at Charlie's funeral Vince Gill was there and performed it while everyone sang along. It was truly a special day and experience worth sharing.

We have a couple of updates with the film. Todd is coming in to Cincinnati from Chicago from February 18-21 and we are all going to spend the weekend getting the film hopefully 80%-90% cut together. A trailer is in the works as well and we hope to have it to the world before our major editing weekend. And last, but not least, we have launched the official site at www.LouvinFilm.com

For now, there is not a lot on it, basically just a landing page, but it looks really good. Our friend Darren Crigler at Jalapi Media got it live for us. Some of the content we look to add is of course the trailer, the ability to pre-order the DVD, a link to donate to Charlie's family directly, and also a list of all you great people who have made this project so successful.

I still have not gotten contact info from everyone, I actually think from only half of you! So if you would, please email your info (include your contribution amount please) so I can get you credited and also so we can start getting posters out.

Thanks
Blake Judd

The Passing of Charlie Louvin

Update #18 · Jan 26, 2011 · comment

This morning, for those of you who do not already know, Mr. Louvin passed away around 1AM in his Wartrace, Tennessee home. Thoughts and prayers go out to his wife Betty, the rest of his great family, friends, and fans throughout the world.

His passing encourages us as a production group to work that much harder to put something together to honor Charlie's life and musical career. It is an personal honor to be working on something that will leave a timeless impression on the importance of great man that we lost today.

I hope that you all who have contributed will be as proud to be a part of what we are trying to do as we are to be working on it. We could not have done this without you.
