Funding Successful
This project successfully raised its funding goal on November 30.
Pledge $2 or more Pledge $2 or more
You get Z-Ward as a PDF. Keen! This is an advance copy — any errata or post-publication changes (like thank you's) will be added to future versions, which you'll totally get.
Pledge $5 or more Pledge $5 or more
This is the same as the $2 reward but I'll throw in the Action Castle PDF (which contains all the basic rules to Parsely, as well as the kick-ass game that started all this insanity)! Plus: a Parsely PDF micro-green (a mini-game, yay).
Pledge $10 or more Pledge $10 or more
You get both the print version of Z-Ward (shipping included) and a free PDF version of the game (as soon as it's available in November), plus your name recorded on the Z-Ward web page's "Board of Trustees."
Pledge $15 or more Pledge $15 or more
This level nets you the $10 reward plus PDFs of all of the other Parsely games—that's more than a half-dozen games! You'll also get a big wet virtual kiss on the Z-Ward web page.
Pledge $20 or more Pledge $20 or more
Imagine the $15 reward but with a second copy of Z-Ward. Can you do that? THAT'S WHAT THIS IS! All of the Parsely PDFs and two printed versions of Z-Ward—give one to a friend who beats the game!
Pledge $25 or more Pledge $25 or more
You'll receive the print and PDF versions of Z-Ward (shipping included) and your name recorded on the Z-Ward web page's Board of Trustees. We'll also send you a Parsely starter pack featuring print versions of Action Castle 1 and 2!
Pledge $50 or more Pledge $50 or more
This is one of the big ones. Donate 50 clams and you'll receive the entire Parsely series (a total of 8 games in both print and PDF) and your name in the game (listed in the "in-patient roster"). I know, right? Madness!
Pledge $100 or more Pledge $100 or more
For a solid Benjamin, you'll get everything from the $50 reward, plus signed copies of my RPG books: Lacuna and InSpectres. Be one of the first five $100+ pledges and you'll get a Z-Ward NPC named after you! Right now, they don't have names. Sad panda.
Pledge $250 or more Pledge $250 or more
What can you get for $250? Plenty. Get all the rewards mentioned thus far and I'll get on the train to anywhere within NY, CT, NJ or PA and run through some Parsely games with you and your friends. A great deal for local convention organizers.
Pledge $500 or more Pledge $500 or more
A generous albeit ridiculous pledge of $500 gets you the above-mentioned goodies plus I will hand-deliver these suckers to anywhere within the East Coast of the US and we'll play some Z-Ward and other games. That means a plane ride, kids...and I hate flyin'.
Pledge $750 or more Pledge $750 or more
This is crazy-town. You've been warned! For 750 simoleons you'll get all the stuff listed above but I'll travel to anywhere within the continental United States — ugh, more planes.
Pledge $1,500 or more Pledge $1,500 or more
The Pledge-pocalyse is here. For $1500, I will rock the house. YOUR HOUSE. Not only will I bring copies of all my games to your domicile/convention, but I'll design and publish a custom Parsely game based on a theme and genre of your choosing! Of course, you'll get your name in the credits, creative input and a big thank you for supporting my Parsely games. To top it off, you'll receive 30 copies of the finished product to pass on to friends and family members. There is no way anyone is going to do this but what the hell? I'm insane...!

Thanks for getting the PDFs out so fast!
Thanks, Terence. I'd say it's safe to expect much more Parsely in 2012.
Espionage game would be cool. I fondly remember stoping the saboteur in Scott Adams' Secret Mission on a VIC-20. I would also like to see something Cyber... Tron-like, perhaps?
Based on the popularity of this project, there is a demand for many more Parsely games.
I ran my first Parsely game off my iPad for my wife, while we were waiting for a bus. She beat Action Castle with a final score of 89/100. She asked how many there were, and I told her 7+, and she said she wished ot was more like 70. I concur.
Red zombies kill the player after one command (the player has time to escape or kill the zombie but not dilly-dally.
As for the zombies swarming the intake, that should only really occur if playing Z-Ward-X — that'll be changed in the final version of Z-Ward (v1.2?)
***Potential spoilers ahead***
Now, that I've read through the game I have a question about how to handle zombie attacks. Should an attacking zombie automatically kill a player after one command, or do the players have a chance to look through their inventory for something to help?
Also, do the players lose if they do not have the bunny when they enter Francie's room or could they replace the panel, so that they can look around for it.?
Finally, once you attempt the escape, how do you get past the zombies that are now in hospital intake? I don't see another exit, and I don't see how you'd get by them.
Thanks for the great work.
Inpatients' names (what I have) are in the PDF and the website has all the Board of Trustees names. Will do another update when I get a swack of additional names but until then, that's what I have! The PDFs should go up later this week (on RPGNow.com) so thanks for your patience!
Jared, huge congrats!!!
All sorts of kudos to everyone. I'm looking forward to play this.
Suggestion for next game: CYBER HACK.
Excellent! Really good to see this being such a success. Well done everyone!
T-Shirt sizes are (using chest measurements):
XS 32"
S 36" (30" women's fitted)
M 40" (33"women's fitted)
L 44" 36" women's fitted)
XL 48" (39" women's fitted)
2XL 52" (42" women's fitted)
3XL 56"
4XL 60"
If there's still time to cast a vote, I'd love to see an espionage based game. Perhaps "Foreign Embassy."
How are the t-short sizes?
Are the large a 'American large' or 'large as when I grew up (European large)'?
I'm glad we hit your initial stretch goal of $7500 after all!
My guess for the final amount was $7,700. Not bad, eh?
OMG you guys are nuts. 4 hours to go! Then I launch my new solo game: T-SHIRTS: THE FOLDING.
$86 left to $7000!
So...
Close...
Please raise pledges.
If you haven't raised your pledge to the next reward level, or tacked on $10 (like I did on top of my $50 reward), now's the time! Three days left to get the 226+ backers each a copy of a whole new game on top of Z-Ward and your other rewards by getting the total up to $6500!
KICKSTARTER
You are a group of backers standing in front of a worthy project. Exits are: Z-Ward (and other rewards), Z-Ward AND another new game (and other rewards)
> go Z-Ward AND another new game (and other rewards)
You can't go Z-Ward AND another new game (and other rewards), you collectively haven't pledged enough money.
> Raise enough money!
I don't see enough money here.
> Inventory
You collectively have: enough money
> Hmm...
4 days to go and a little over $400 left to reach $6500 and a bonus game!
And we broke $6000. I'm so looking forward to being eaten by a zombie.
Now about 50 need to raise their pledges by $10... or 100 by $5. I think the pledges WILL get to $6500 within 7 days!
We need about 70 of us to up our pledges by $10 so that everyone gets bonus game awesomeness.
C'mon people, less than $1000 dollars to go. If you all up your pledge by $10 you'd be getting a full new game at the same "price" as the Z-Ward print & pdf level!
If all the pledges under $50 raised their reward a level, the project would be up almost a grand! Let's see PIRATE SHIP/CACTUS TOWN/whatever made and sent out to all of us! :)
PIRATE SHIP!
Brian,
Yes, you'd get the expansion and (if I hit that goal), the next Parsely game.
Question: at the $20 level, do I get all existing Parsley games in PDF, 2 copies of Z-Ward in print, the new game you just started polling for AND the mini game expansion I saw somewhere?
I don't mind printing the games myself, but I didn't want to miss out on getting all the games and mini games by being at the wrong level.
PIRATE SHIP or SUPER CITY for me.
I'm for Ninja Garden! ("Only a ninja can sneak up on another ninja")
PIRATE SHIP!
So tough to choose, but I'll throw my vote toward PIRATE SHIP.
$2500 over $5000 is a long way to go. The original Z-Ward goal was $1000. But I hope you get there! And if you do... I'd like PIRATE SHIP. Or for OTHER either an "Escape the room" adventure or a "Locked room" mystery.
I'm in on CACTUS TOWN...
I vote Cactus Town. And I'm raising my pledge to get closer to $7500.
This is awesome. Jared, I love Inspectres and Octane, and look forward to unleashing the parsely games on my friends.
I can't wait for my patch and t-shirt!
If I hit the stretch goal of $7500, I'll include a new game in your list of rewards...so tell your friends! So now a question: what should the next Parsely game be?
NINJA GARDEN (get it?): Ninjas! Or if you prefer, ninjae.
CACTUS TOWN: Old West-style action
PIRATE SHIP: Rum & booty
SUPER CITY: Caped superheroes in a modern setting
ACTION CASTLE III: Because, why not?
or...OTHER?
Hi, Terence.
Death World is a "comical" Parsely game I ran at a convention in Ohio a few years back. It's just one room ("The Dead World") and it comes with Jungle Adventure.
What is DEATH WORLD! and does it comes with pledges $50 and up?
Wired.com did a cool piece about humans pretending to be video game AI. Action Castle and Parsely were both mentioned!
http://www.wired.com/epicenter/2011/11/arcade-improv/all/1
I'm always a sucker for a good t-shirt.
No idea yet!
So, have you planned the next goal/reward yet? Another game, maybe? :)
Whoa, $910 away from Skully T-shirts!
Watched the video 3 times, and then finally sat down to read the text blurb about this project, and I'm in! Sold me on Text based adventure :) Can't believe I haven't heard of this earlier. Looking forward to stretch rewards and t-shirts so I can increase my pledge.

You can see a very brief video of me running Z-Ward here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch…
My part is last and starts at 3:39...
Black shirt with "Parsely" with logo on the front, in green. White "Memento Mori Theatricks" and skull logo on the top of the back, across the shoulderblades, in a smaller font.
This week will be the week of stretch rewards. I'd love to be able to return to Fastaval, for example, or make a trip to Seattle to run Parsely games at PAX Prime. Stay tuned!
It's going to feel like such a long wait for this....38 days to go. The goals sound pretty sweet. Any stretch rewards to help push towards those goals? *eyes the farm: a game of hunger and horror*
A or C for me as well.
A or C for me please.
