J.R. Uretsky will be attending an artist residency in Finland and needs $2,000 to create new videos and sculptures.
J.R. Uretsky is an artist based in Providence, RI and she needs to raise $2,000 for a new video she will be making while at the Arteles Artist Residency in Finland.
While in Finland J.R. plans to explore how being in an unfamiliar environment affects her art practice. J.R. makes abstract sculptures about her relationships to specific people. When making these sculptures, she seeks to portray how a particular person affects and influences her. Using the sculpture like a prop and her relationship to an individual as a point of departure, she employs video to transform mundane actions into strange, yet relatable experiences. J.R. then presents the video and sculpture to the person she made the project about.
The $2,000 donated to this project will fund the creation of a new body of work created in Finland. J.R.'s goal is to complete a new video while at the Arteles Artist Residency. Donations will cover the cost of materials to create new sculptural works for the video, video equipment rentals and video production costs.
