AMAZING!!! At $75,691 the project became the 3rd most funded Arts project ever! There is still plenty of room so don't hesitate to jump on board (maybe 1000 backers?). I’m introducing my new sculpture entitled Crania Anatomica Filigre & looking to Kickstarter to help get my work seen & collected by more people. The traditional way of communicating, exhibiting, & selling art is profoundly changing & I intend to embrace it. The idea is to offer my work for a limited amount of time directly without the extraneous exhibition costs & markups...a sort of pre-release. I will make as many as are pledged for in the next 45 days...be it one or a million billion. Assuming all goes spectacularly, I intend to offer all my work this way before it goes to a gallery or exhibition. This sculpture is simultaneously powerfully delicate, a great conversation piece, & completely bitchin cool. It is a deviation from my typical tangles series but similar in aesthetic & certainly in process, read on...
Process
My work has been primarily drawings & sculptures of what I call tangles. I started the drawings about 20 years ago & because of their complexity there was no practical way to create them sculpturally. About 5 years ago a perfect storm of software, technology, & materials engineering all came together that now allows me to create my work 3-dimensionally. See here for process insight & details.

If you're not familiar with the Kickstarter model, the way it works is you receive a reward for an accompanying pledge in support of my project. The more you pledge the better the rewards & the better both you & I feel. Besides positive participation in an artist's life & the good karma vibes, rewards include:
Sculptures- SLS (Selective Laser Sintering) 3D printed Polyamide nylon
- White in color, slightly flexible, strong & durable (relatively speaking)
- Small (2.6” x 3.5” x 3.5”): shown in the hand photo
- Medium (4.9” x 3.7” x 5.0"): is in between small & large
- Large (5.25” x 7” x 6.9”): approximately life size

The specific 3D printing process I am using for "Crania Anatomica Filigre" is referred to as SLS (Selective Laser Sintering). 3D data of the sculpture is digitally "sliced" into hundreds or thousands of micro layers (depending on sculptures dimensions). Each micro-layer is successively sintered or fused by a laser in a specially prepared nylon based powder on top off the previous layer until the entire model is built. See here for more info on my process.

DOMESTIC: All US addresses (Alaska & Hawaii included) or eligible except for P.O. boxes. Shipping costs within the United States (Alaska & Hawaii included) are included in the pledge price.

If there are any additional international duties & taxes they are recipients responsibility. Please check into your countries regulations & fees if you have any concerns. If the shipping ends up being an issue you can simply cancel your pledge before project end, no harm done.

The pledge field is editable, so if you pledge $50, then you can edit the field to add the additional shipping costs applicable to you pledge item. If you have already submitted your pledge, you can click the "manage your pledge" button and then add the appropriate $ amount to your pledge.

After the campaign ends, you will receive an email requesting your shipping address & any details required to fulfill your reward.

There is approximately a 3 week wait after the end of the project before the crowd fund pledges are available. In addition, the sculptures take approximately 2 weeks to queue, build & ship (all other rewards are within the same general time frame). Depending on the final quantity pledged for at the end of this project it may prove to be marginally longer. I can assure you all rewards will be made & shipped expeditiously but I am expecting at least 30 days for 1st shipment from project end date. I will update frequently regarding delivery dates.

For some reason it seems Kickstarter will not allow you to submit separate pledges. So...simply pledge the total amount you want for the multiple of rewards you want in the appropriate tier. Send me a quick message to let me know so I can note your pledge on my end. If you happen to want different rewards from different tiers please pledge under the "No Reward" tier & send me the message so I can make note of which rewards you do want. It seems a little wonky but it makes it easy for me to keep track this way.
