Okay. This is it, no-nonsense time. 

I am putting SFAM on hold indefinitely so I can focus on getting this Kickstarter finished. You have all been very kind and understanding but I need to get it done and I can't think of another way to do it without some very severe manipulations of temporal physics. 

SO: I will be running SFAM Guest Month (with contributions from the internet's elite webcomics stars) and making this Kickstarter my full-time job. You WILL have your books, you WILL have your goodies and I WILL make this happen for you as soon as I humanly can. 

Thank you all for your patience and all the support you have shown me so far; it means more than I can possibly say. I'll update you in the next couple of days with a progress report and a master list of Shit I Gotta Get Done so you can follow along at home and see how things are going. Expect a lot more updates over the upcoming weeks as things really get rolling.

Delays and Statuses

Hello dearest backers! Hello from Goats HQ. I think it is safe to say at this point that this project is going to be delivered late. I know this because all the deadlines have passed and I am still not done putting the book together. 

Why is it taking so goddamned long, you quite reasonably ask? I don't want to spend our time making excuses but it is a confluence of things, including issues with the health of one of my children, completing fulfillment of the Bunnies Kickstarter, and just generally keeping my head above water as I continue work on SFAM. I admit there is a bit of performance anxiety as well; this is an immense undertaking and I don't want to screw it up. I want to make sure you get what you paid for, and I'd rather take my time doing it properly than rush something half-assed into your mailboxen.

That said, production continues on the book (which is 90% laid out and is mostly missing frontmatter and cover, which I'll be working on today). 

We are also laying out the e-books, which is taking some time as well. The various knick-knacks have been scoped and priced and once I have the completed book I'll pull the trigger on getting those done.  

Paintings and one-off artwork like that will be completed after the mass-produced stuff and most likely shipped under separate cover. 

Goats is still slated for a return, but I NEED to build a new site for it first, which means getting WordPress Multisite running, which requires more computer knowhow than I posess. So I'm going to get the book to press first (I see the book as the first priority for this project) and then spend the time I need figuring out all this server garbage. 

So: what does all this mean to you? Deliverables will hopefully show up in the first half of 2013 at this rate. I don't want to get more specific than that because I've already been wrong once and I didn't like it. Goats will resume shortly after the first batch of books gets shipped, assuming I can get some computer help. 

I owe you all an apology and a great deal of thanks for your incredible patience and understanding. I am not always good at maintaining a schedule or delivering projects on time but I am determined to make sure you get every sweet-ass reward you have coming to you. It will happen. Feel free to keep lighting fires under my ass until it does.

Slow and Steady

Howdy all! Just wanted to give you a quick update on the Goats Kickstarter progress. Things are going well, but slowly. The book is mostly laid out; I'm working on the material the beginning of the book right now, specifically the cover art. I'm also getting the bunnies magnet sets made, but the first two prototypes were not up to our standards of quality, so we're looking into more expensive printing options right now. Most of the other rewards depend on the completion of the book, so while I have a lot of that priced out, we haven't begun production yet.

I wish it was going faster, but with two special needs kids at home during the day I haven't had as much spare time to work as I had hoped by this point. The good news is that the boys are starting daycare three days a week in October, so that should help considerably with time management issues. 

I don't have revised estimated shipping dates yet; I'll let you know more specific info as we get closer to completing production on everything. I want to thank you all for your patience and understanding once again as I continue to make progress on this huge undertaking. Your support is crucial and I could not do any of this without you guys. So thanks!

Goats Update: Keep On Truckin'

Howdy folks! Just wanted to give you a quick update on how the Goats IV Kickstarter is coming along.

The good news is that production on the new book is coming along smoothly. I've recruited some help in getting the books laid out and she's been a tremendous help so far. I've also been working on a number of the other rewards in bits and smatterings.

The bad news is that I still have a LOT of work to do, including the drawings, paintings, and other goodies I promised you, as well as creating the cover art and other extras for the new book. Production on the new Goats site has been molasses-slow.

Now that I've returned from SDCC, I want to focus on getting all the rewards done and out the door. At this rate they are going to be very late getting to backers. I want to make some changes and make sure that we’re only slightly late.

So: as of immediately, SFAM is going to switch to a MWF publishing schedule with Repeat Destination polls every other Friday. This will make sure I have enough extra time to finish everything up and get it to you before the heat death of the universe. We'll switch back to the daily schedule once both Kickstarters are fulfilled.

I'll post here again when some more progress has been made and I have a better feel for when shipments will start going out. Backer surveys will be issued towards the end of the process so we make sure we get your most recent mailing address. Thanks for your patience and understanding!
