Record Arrival! (CG-001 is in my living room.)
The hits just keep on coming! The vinyl and digital download cards for Claw&Globe-001, the special limited edition 45 The Black Hollies pressed to bring with us to Psychfest in Austin, Texas, have arrived!! We are so happy that our plan is almost in the final stages of materializing. It is truly a beautiful thing, idea, documentation, production, tangible results to withstand the test of time, all borne by the ecstatic toil of our loving hands, for you, our muse. And just in case we haven't told you enough, your support, without which we would not be looking at a box of 500 records sitting in our living room right now, means the world to us. We think it's a proper gesture to include within the new record a "Thank You" list naming each person that has pledged to both of our fund raising campaigns thus far on Kickstarter so we're going to go ahead and do that. From here, the next step is to have a vinyl stuffing slumber party next Thursday night when art director Dan Rumain arrives at our door step fresh off a bullet-train from Baltimore with a grip of hand-screened psychedelic-mirrored flying-owl record covers under his arm. Then, the grand finale... We bring the records to Austin and watch them sell themselves at Psychfest, like hot cakes! We'll give you another update from the vinyl stuffing slumber party. Feel free to stop by and lend a helping hand. In the meantime, we will be rolling around in fresh cut vinyl for the next couple of days.

When he isn't knee deep in horseradish and cream cheese Dan Rumain is hard at work devising art schemes. Dan's latest, "Make my humble attic apartment into a no-shit-ready-for-business printing press," can be checked off his "Things To Do" list. Our covers are being printed! Our covers are being printed! Claw & Globe 001: out of the womb, into the world, starting to crawl, and almost ready to walk! I got word from United Pressing that our 500 vinyl 45's will be shipping out of Nashville today. What better way to celebrate than to give everyone a sneak peak at the marvelous hand screened cover art, hard proof that this project would not be nearly half as beautiful if not for Dan Rumain's involvement? Check out the primitive stages of the covers in all their clothes-pinned glory! More updates to follow.

All of the above rewards plus The Black Hollies write YOU a song about the topic of your choice featuring your member of choice on lead vocals accompanied by a caricatured rendering of a member of The Black Hollies based on their resemblance to a corresponding cast member of Stripes! Herb will illustrate the rendering. For example, if you opt for this pledge you could potentially take this route: Topic: drum endorsements and "making it" with a sprinkle of the city streets, channeling Seger's "Hollywood Nights." Lead vocals: Nick. Caricature:Nick as Bill Murray's "Pvt. John Winger," no relation to Kip. Or you could mix and match and opt for Wiley on vocals with a caricature of Justin as John Laroqeuette's "Capt. Stillman." Or opt for Jon on vocals with a caricature of Herb as John Candy's "Pvt. Dewey "Ox" Oxburger." The sky's the limit these are just a few suggestions for how deep we'll go.
