With a great new CD, Jonathan Brinkley will tour the living rooms of Europe. It's time to spread the love at a whole new level!
Hello new friends, old friends, and those who don't yet know they're friends,
In the name of simplicity, here's a quick rundown of what we propose to do:
The Project -
My friend and manager, Jen Lee, and I would like to raise at least $6,000 for a new CD and tour by March 2, 2011!
"Everything's a Phoenix" is the luminous new record by Jonathan Brinkley. Recording is going great, no assistance needed there! We hope you enjoy the rough draft of the title track in the video.
What you can help with is making the physical CDs appear in reality. Mastering, Duplication, and Packaging will cost about $2,000 for 1,000 copies. We hope to have this part done by March 2nd.
After that, things get really exciting--as in Going-on-a-House-Concert-Tour-of-Europe exciting! Why Europe? Glad you asked! Check out some more details below, next to this thing: ~#. Meanwhile, We'll tell you that kick-starting the trip will cost about $4,000. That's for airfare and living expenses for both Jonathan and Jen. That should get us through the first month of the tour, after which we intend to pay our way with income from the actual gigs! We hope to take off around May 15th.
And that's the deal in a nutshell! Read on for the gooey center. . .
Ah, thanks for being thorough! Here's the juicy stuff:
Too Much Money? Never! - Feel free to surpass our requested sum by as much as you dare! Any money that exceeds our $6,000 goal will go to pay for things like the following: A camcorder and/or digital audio device to record our experiences, two Eurail Passes for greater ease of travel, language books, and extending the tour.
Rewards - The rewards to your right are some truly righteous ones, if we do say so ourselves. We worked hard to pack a lot of value and fun into all the virtual schwag, concerts, and things you can actually take home and do stuff with.
~# Why Europe? Jonathan says: The cool thing about my job as a song maker is that every experience I have in life leads to greater richness in what I create. With that as a guideline, I seek out extraordinary circumstances, even as I attempt to see wonder in the commonplace. From the peace of a farmland paradise, I once again find myself drawn to embrace the excitement and luminosity of raw adventure. I have also finally amassed enough friends and connections in Europe (Isn't that a goal for everybody?) to actually visit and have the kind of deeply interactive experience there that I've long dreamed of having--namely, using my unique music to cross cultural divides, be an ambassador for American "not-a-jerk"-ness, and generally spread the love around, all while having a whole lot of fun, of course.
What's a House Concert? - Wow. If you don't know already, it's time you found out! A House Concert is, in our opinion, the very best way to experience music, for audiences and performers alike. Basically, someone who loves music and musicians hosts a quiet gathering in their living room. Maybe they make a formal dinner and charge admission, giving a chunk of profit to the performer, or maybe it's ragtag and indie, with pillows on the floor and a tip jar. Either way, there is no greater venue for intimacy, warmth, and uniqueness. Several folks in Europe have offered their homes in this way, and we are so excited to share with them. We'll do one at your place when we get back! Shoot us an email for more info.
Wrapping Up - Thanks so much in advance for helping bring about an experience that has the potential to enrich and enliven a good deal of folks around the world, you and me included!
Jonathan and Jen
Jonathan's Thanks - All these people believe in me, and I have no words to say how grateful I am , and how awesome it makes me feel:
Special Video Thanks go to Meghan Clark, whose patience and willingness to play along got this movie made way faster and easier than expected!
And Big Thanks to Jen Lee, who continues to amaze me with her big ideas and enthusiasm for raw life. And finally, thanks to Jen Lee, the folks at Coconut Bliss and Ellen and Justin for their generous offerings!
Have a question? If the info above doesn't help, you can ask the project creator directly.
