With Someone Else’s Money, or WSEM as it is commonly known, is a coed a cappella group from the University of Georgia. 

As denizens of the music-loving town of Athens, GA, WSEM has had their share of fantastic musical adventures. We have been honored to sing and record with the extremely talented Ben Folds on the “Ben Folds Presents: University A Cappella” album and we have even performed for sold-out crowds at the Morton Theatre in Athens and the Tabernacle in Atlanta.

While we have done some amazing things, we have never been able to manage the release of a full-length professionally mixed and mastered album. With a great amount of talented vocalists and a superb repertoire of amazing arrangements, there are endless possibilities for this album. All we need is the funding. Since the birth of WSEM, we have worked hard to establish ourselves at UGA, in Athens, and beyond, but we still need a little more help achieving our dreams of total world domination… err, I mean, total a cappella domination. Anyway, moving on…

So, let’s move on to the particulars. In order to save money, we will be recording the album ourselves. To get the album professionally mixed and mastered, pay for the licensing rights, and to cover the actual printing and production of the album, we are hoping to raise $5,000 through this Kickstarter campaign. If we raise more than that, all proceeds will go to making this album. It would be fantastic if we could get the lead vocals recorded in a professional studio, for example. Beyond that, the more money we have, the more songs will end up on the album. 

At this point, you have read a little bit about us and a little bit about what we need. Help us get our music to the people. Help us create something that will sustain our group far into the future. Help us gain a sense of pride in what we have accomplished since WSEM’s humble beginnings. Indeed, no music group can thrive without the help of its fans.
