From Florida to Mount Rushmore and back! Inspiration from places, people and the unexpected in the Road trip of a lifetime. Join me!

"The Road Less Traveled" is about an artist with a passion for taking herself out of her comfort zone in order to get inspiration from the least expected situations, places and people. 

Just by diving into action and making my project public is a HUGE STEP for this artist! This is a project that started the moment it got published... 100% OUT OF MY COMFORT ZONE. And that's the idea!

I wish to take this idea even further by incorporating the supporters into what is most personal to me: my creative process, the weeks I'll spend surrounded by the unkown, and the richness of content I wish to find while travelling into the Heart of America. 

Before any of my paintings or illustrations become art, they usually start out as anecdotes, conversations, photographs or stories that I write about. It's mostly about the people, they are the ones who inspire me. Social media and digital communication has had a crucial impact in my ability to absorb all around me.

Passion? check! Sense of adventure? check! Company?... that's where YOU come in! I want you to join me digitally along the way.

  • Is this just about a Roadtrip?

    The Road Less Traveled is so much more than a trip looking for inspiration to paint something. It is a creative anthropological adventure driven by the concept of removing oneself from a comfort zone in order to reach new levels of creativity.

  • Why make it public?

    Making this project public is a crucial part of the concept behind it. The creative process is something very particular to each artist, and Johanna has never enjoyed opening up about what drives her creative passion. Making something so private available to the world will be a brand-new life changing experience.

  • Did I hear you will not sleep in any hotel rooms correctly?

    Indeed, you did. A key piece of this project is to use Airbnb.com as her only source of sleeping accommodations. Airbnb connects everyday people who have room to spare and the alternative traveler who wishes to find an option other than a hotel room.

    Johanna believes that a hotel room would provide a “bubble” that would interrupt the concept of this project along the road.

  • How will this adventure be interactive?

    This project was conceived as an engaging affair since day one. It will be a social creative experience by taking advantage of the multiple social media outlets; these will allow viewers and followers from all around the globe to share the artist’s fortunes and mishaps in real time.

    Making people part of her life while she absorbs and creates along the way is 100% out of her comfort zone.
