About this project

View the full Onward trailer here:

Onward is a unique stop motion / cg hybrid animation about a man named Sean who follows a compass around the world for several years, believing that he is being guided by his late wife. Throughout his travels he comes across strange signs and coincidences while living out the adventures his wife never had the chance to take. The imagery of the film combines photographed stop motion puppets and hand-made props with cg facial features and environments in a unique manner.

The trailer above is the first scene of the film, which demonstrates the technique, level of quality, and detail of the final short. This created a workflow and blueprint that will be used to finish the rest of the film. The environment around Sean was entirely CG, however with proper funding we will be able to create more practical props and settings for characters to interact with. We aim to finish by the end of 2012, allowing enough time to build sets, photograph, animate, and render. Running time will be around 20 minutes.

We feel there is a lot of potential for winning awards. Upon completion, we plan on making Onward travel, submitting aggressively to film festivals worldwide.

Onward touches on many universal themes. From losing someone we love, to longing for resolution, having determination without reason, and above all, hope. Onward has touched the hearts of everyone on the crew, and hopefully will touch everyone who is interested in supporting as well. We thank you for your time and consideration.
