About this project

In 2008, I started the professional Fine Art network , a blog directory to be sort of a "matchmaker" tool for artists, consultants and resources. The URL is http://professionalfineartnetwork.blogspot.com. As a working artist myself, I knew of nothing similar on the web which existed, so I decided to do it myself. My idea took off and in a little over a year, there are now hundreds of artists, consultants, galleries, and resources listed, and in addition there are 1300 members in the group on LinkedIn and 200 members on Facebook. We have interesting discussions going on where members post their news, exhibits and questions on both FB and LinkedIn.
Many artists have written to me thanking me for my time and to tell me that they have gotten jobs from having been listed on this index. I've put countless hours into this project and it’s time to take it to the next level. This Kickstarter project is to help defray costs in obtaining a domain name, developing a “real” website, consolidate the discussions in one place and to expand services (for instance, posting opportunities and job postings). Whatever donations I get will be applied towards those goals.
I have met so many people through pFAn, have made many new friends, new business contacts and found suppliers for my own and for others' projects. Networking is integral to our careers, especially for artists, since so many of us work isolated in our own studios. Please let me know how I can improve pFAn, and I'd love to hear your ideas about how you would like to see the group fit into your future.....and no, even though many of you ask, I can't get you NYC gallery representation, but who knows what will happen!
