The "new" Dock-Square and B-Squares Pre-Production
Hey Everyone!
Apologies for the extended down time without a new Update, rest assured Shawn and I have been very busy in finalizing all the designs and ramping up the production for B-Squares.
Final Design Features
A few updates on the some general design features of all the B-Squares and also the newly named "Dock-Square".
- We've chosen an Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) Plastic that has extra high temperature and UV protection properties.
- All of the B-Squares Plastic parts have a nice "Matted" surface finish, in contrast to the glossy plastic you saw in the original Kickstarter video. This gives the Squares a much more professional look and best of all prevents those smudgy fingerprint marks.
- As announced previously, we updated the Battery-Square design to accomodate a mini-USB output so that people can charge other USB devices. As a result of this design change, we've also updated the "iPhone-Square" to be more universal, thus changing it's name to the "Dock-Square" (See pictures below!) For the iPhone/iPod people out there, don't worry, this doesn't change anything for you! For the non iPhone people, now you can take out the removable iPhone/iPod connector and use the Dock-Square as a universal dock. With the Battery-Square underneath and a mini-USB to micro-USB adapter you should also be able to charge your Android phones.
B-Squares Production
The funds we received from the Kickstarter campaign have been released to us and we've initiated production of B-Squares Hardware and Electronic components. To give you an idea of some of the cool processes that are going to go into the manufacturing of B-Squares we've put together a short montage of our recent factory visits. Everyone loves a montage right?! (See the Video below)
We're still finalizing the lead time on some of our components so we don't have an accurate shipment date yet, but hope to post that soon in one of the next updates.
Kickstarter and Clean Energy Projects
We wanted to share with you a recent article written about Kickstarter with a nice mention of the B-Squares project: Kickstarter: The New Way to Innovate and Produce Clean Energy Projects. What do you guys think? Will B-Squares be the start of more successful Clean Energy projects on Kickstarter?
