Hey guys, you've been great about updates, some of the best on Kickstarter. What's the latest? Do you have an update on the Mochas? Thanks!
How are we doing?
Me too! So exciting! Can't wait to start flying this awesome quad! Any ETA info on the Mochas?
Nice, got info requesting shipping info for my Mocha. When are you actually shipping?
What value information will you ship with? Would like if it was sent as gift, or you kept it as low as possible.
Hi, yes an update is due. One just get's lost in work. We are trying to at least have small regular updates on twitter @esden and @thequadshot as well as chrisses blog thing http://forum.thequadshot.com/viewtopic.php… that you may want to check out.
But don't worry, we know a bigger update is due and we will make sure to make one soon.
Cheers Piotr and tQt
How about an update? Thanks!
I see your ordering page provides the following guidance for new pre-orders:
"Please note that this is a pre-order! We are currently going into production, and we estimate that your Quadshot will be shipped to you in March-April 2012."
Perhaps that's your first stab at giving ETA guidance (or helping the sales pitch for new buyers). Either way...seems like a start. :)
I appreciate the last update. Overall I think it would be much better expectation management if you can spend a bit to plan out the remaining steps (even if just internally) and attempt to provide some ETA guidance (even if there are big caveats/unknowns you need to highlight). I know it's not easy to do when there are unknowns, but there's nothing wrong with iterating and making changes as you learn more or unpredictable things comp up. The advantage is you'll only get better and better at it with the next cool idea you come up with and want to build. At least hearing how/when you see this playing out would be appreciated (rather than seemingly bypassing the question :) ). The goal here isn't to speed things up, it's simply to provide the best expectation management you can for your investors (and to get better at that skill as you learn more).
Good luck guys - I'm sure it's a great experience learning how to execute on this. I appreciate you desire to build a high quality cool product here. Happy holidays.
Hey all,
Sorry about the long silence; final touches prior to the production run have been a huge time sink lately :).
One of the more exciting things we have been working on is a way to allow the Quadshot to be flat packed, making it much easier to carry around, and hopefully simultaneously make it even more robust to crash damage than it already is.
We are going to put out an update with all the development work we have done on the airframe & electronics as well as information on the manufacturing / tooling front in the next couple of days. Please bear with us till then.
Thanks for your understanding and continuing support.

Updates please guys? Don't lose momentums...
Hi guys, any chance your backers will be playing with QuadShots over the Christmas break?
BTW .... Happy Thanksgiving everyone at Quadshot ! ! !
Updates are getting scarce guys... What happened with the us foam company for the wings ?
+1 to Mark's request
Would like an update on the Mocha ETAs (at least some idea). I'm guessing they won't be ready for xmas (?), but I'd love an idea based on the steps you see remaining.
I'm not a structural engineer, but would it be worth having some sort of aluminum/ composite cone on the nose and tail of the pylons with a "through rod", connecting the two for structural integrity?
Since I haven't flown one of these, I'm a little concerned about the landing and what kind of damage could occur if the landing isn't smooth enough.
Not to be negative, but I'd love to see one of your prototypes take a less than smooth landing, just to see what sort of damage may occur and how rough a landing it may be able to survive, for educational purposes only.
Maybe your injection molding, if the densities are right, can survive a good impact I don't know.
Also, what about parts? In the event there is a casualty, do you plan to stock parts?
... And of course, any update on the ship dates? : )
Any idea when the Espressos will ship?
"We hope the Mochas will be shipping in as little as 6-8 weeks after Kickstarter ends."
Still minimum 4 weeks to get my Mocha.....seems like years.....
Any update on the project?
Can't wait to put my hands on the Expresso :)
So who gets to ship all of this? =D
Just backed you for an Expresso.... First kickstarter I've done. Amy idea when these might ship. I know we can start looking at development with paparazzi but do you have any more technical specs to work with the xbee or other components ? Heard about you guys from Darren Kitchen. He rocks, you should give him his free as long as he writes some killer code, puts a wifi hd cam on it and gets some good video of snubsy :-)
Hi Ivan,
We hope the Mochas will be shipping in as little as 6-8 weeks after Kickstarter ends. However, this date is a rough estimate and we may need more time.
Thanks for the comment!

I am a retired engineer trying to pursue a hobby in UAV! Your Quadshot seems to address all my doubts as to where to start my UAV hobby! When I asked an expert of many years in this area, he asked me to first make up mind whether I want to fly planes or helis, as it takes months to learn controlling the flight. I had to tell him reluctantly it is helis, which is my first preference, as I am interested in the hovering feature.
Your Quadshot is both and also the learning can be easy for a newbie like me. I have opted for Mocha and am eagerly waiting for its delivery.
Meanwhile can any one guide to get and configure the simulation software for this - so that I can download and start learning and fine tuning. What are the minimum requirements (laptop, sw, 6 channel transmitter etc) for the simulation?
We're really excited and can't wait to receive our Mocha. My 4.5 yr old son keeps asking me when it will arrive (he LOVES the videos you've posted) and so we check this page regularly. Of course, we know you can only start when you're funded, so 8 days from now. But... my son would like to know when the plane will be here? Any guesses on time?
There is so much happening in the realm of controls research, but I found the videos, the coordination and the work already done by The Quadshot Team as just flat out amazing and inspiring.
I might be a complete newbie when it comes to UAVs, but I wanted to dive in and provide whatever assistance I can provide to be part of your effort. Since the Kopi Luwak will represent a brand new project for me; I have registered the domain name UAV.ag so that I can share my own experience with other backers of this project ... I will be keeping a project notebook (CMS) at http://UAV.ag that will focus on exploring practical business applications of unmanned aerial vehicles for agricultural needs (e.g. crop scouting, livestock/wild game herding) and land management (e.g. real estate reconnaissance, planning surveys).

Will any of the rewards come gift wrapped ?
Gents;
Impressed with your project! I donated in honor of my late father, who would have loved this and probably donated some himself. He was a dedicated R/C flier since the 40s, right up to the day he died in Aprilc(he was on his way home from flying one of his competition r/c sailplanes when he was involved in a fatal auto accident). He was an extremely intelligent and talented guy who designed and built most of his own models. I wish you all great success and look forward to seeing what you invent in the future.
Sincerest and best regards,
Robert Arance

Hey Christopher!
We have a loud beeper on all Mochas, Espressos and Kopi Luwaks to indicate low battery status. This gives you a couple of minutes to land. The propellers definitely do add drag, degrading the glide ratio in the power off mode, but it usually sinks slow enough to avoid major structural damage.
At the moment, the plan is for the production version to be made out of molded EPP, which gives it a much smoother surface than the CNC cut method we are using for prototyping. So far, we do not plan to have a skin on the EPP parts. We are exploring ways of improving shock resistance of the pylons, and will post pictures of the updated pylon design once we are through the design cycle.
Thanks for writing and for you support!
-The Quadshot Team.
What method will be available to identify battery status with the Mocha kit? I'm guessing that due to the nature of the prop setup this vehicle probably isn't much of a glider should you lose power. I'd hate to see a few hundred bucks come smashing down to Earth due to my poor judgement on battery life. Is the Lia capable of detecting a critical battery state in order to automatically switch to vertical flight and a slow decent? Either that or *some* form of notification (small shrill speaker?).
One other question is what plans are there for final fit/finish. Will the CNC foam be covered in any protective material? The VTOL nature of the vehicle probably causes wear and tear on the pylons and I would think they might benefit from some additional protection. Possibly some form of rubberized material the pylon tips could be dipped in?
Anyway, congrats on getting 50% there in the first 7 days!
Hi Mark!
We plan to include the FlySky CT6B 2.4GHz 6-channel transmitter with the Mocha, which is also sold under the HobbyKing brand as a T6A v2. We are working on a way to allow you to use the included radio with other planes (as well as use any type of 6-channel radio, not just Spektrum-compatible ones, with the Quadshot). We will post an update about this soon.
Cheers,
//Jeff and the Quadshot Team
I just want a fun-flying toy with my 12yr old, being able to strap-on a tiny, regular handheld camera. Not to do telemetry.
At the 300$ Mocha level - what RC radio will be included? Is it a type that we can use with other RC plane kits?
$6000 by day 3, awesome. Hopefully you guys destroy your goal and go far beyond. :)
