We've launched an exciting new project of our own! Introducing the Kickstarter app for iPhone!

Sekrets is Live!

Update #4 · May 17, 2012 · 2 comments

Many of you asked to be beta testers even thought I cancelled the kickstarter project due to lack of really needing the funds for the artwork.  I did get your UUID's, added them to my developer account, but for some reason, it wouldn't work. (Using one of my iOS devices to test the beta before sending out an email seemed like a good idea.)  I tried numerous times, resetting my certificates, downloading new provisioning profiles, etc, but I couldn't get it to work.  So I thought I'd get it as bulletproof as I could and try to get it out asap.

Unfortunately, I found out I had to get an encryption export license to sell the app even though it was using built-in encryption libraries.  This took a week to get straightened out, less than I thought it would. After that, I resubmitted the app with the license in place, and today I was informed that its live!

Without further ado, here's the link:

I'm keeping it at $.99 for the first while to give the people that were backing the kickstarter project a chance to get it cheap. (And hopefully you'll like it and leave a nice review on itunes? :)  I'm open to ideas on how to price it.  Is $.99 a reasonable price that will make it easy for people to impulse buy? Or is it too niche an app that I should charge more for?

Thanks for everyone that was going to back the project, and beta test!  I'm sorry I couldn't get the beta test working. :(

Project cancelling...

Update #3 · Apr 23, 2012 · comment

I started this project to pay for an artist to spruce it up, but after all the development was done, I'm already pretty happy with it.  It looks like we're heading for success, but I don't want to take your money on false pretenses.  For this reason, I'm going to cancel the project.  I'll see how the iOS version does before I start development on the Android version.

However, if any of my backers want to beta test (and you're very welcome to!) the iPhone/iPod touch version, please let me know by email at john.fehr@gmail.com.  I'll send you instructions.

Thanks for backing my project!

Features finalized and new video up!

Update #2 · Apr 23, 2012 · comment

I've just updated the main video for the project.  Better quality audio is only the beginning. :)

As you can see, there's a number of improvements, in the importing, the encrypting/decrypting/organizing, and the exporting.  All the colors are fully customizable as well, so if you don't like the look, you can change it!  I think it looks pretty good, but I'm biased. :)

If anyone has questions/comments, please let me know!

Making encrypting/decrypting/moving files easier

Update #1 · Apr 15, 2012 · 2 comments

Hello Backers!

I thought you might like updates as the development continues, so you can help influence the direction.

Reviewing my video after a couple of days left me thinking how it seems unnecessarily complicated to encrypt, decrypt, and move files from folder to folder.  I also thought it would be nice to make it a bit more obvious which files are encrypted, and which aren't.

After much thought, I came up with some changes:

1) You don't have to press 'Organize' to start moving files from folder to folder.  Once you've made any changes, though, a 'Process Changes' button appears on the upper right corner.  Click on that to get the confirmation dialog detailing the changes, and letting you back out or proceed.

2) I made unencrypted files show up in red (danger! file not encrypted!), encrypted files show up in green (file safely encrypted), and files that you've moved between encrypted files as yellow. (file encrypted, but not moved yet.)  Moved files will show their old color until you 'Process Changes'.

Here's a screenshot to give you an idea:

I want to make a few more changes before updating the project video.

Any thoughts, comments, or ideas are appreciated!

 John
