Update #4: So close!
Update #3: Progress!!!
Hey, friends! Wanted to send you a quick update and tell you how excited I am about the progress we've made with this EP!!! We finished tracking the majority of everything and did most of what we needed to do in a matter of three weeks. On March 18th (the day after I played my very first round at the Bluebird Cafe--so fun!), we did the photo shoot for the album cover. The shoot went really well!!! And I've got an incredible graphic designer working hard on the design. She's amazing, and I know it will be great!
So here's the plan: We're going to finish up these mixes, have them mastered, finish up the graphic design, get the CD's manufactured, and then, of course, get them into your mailboxes! :)
That said, we may have to push the release date back a few weeks. I know I said the expected delivery date would be April 2012, but it's going to take just a bit longer than we thought to make this record extra amazing. I'll keep you guys in the loop and let you know when to expect them in the mail!
Also, be on the lookout for a survey in which I ask you for your contact info so I can fulfill these rewards I've been working so hard on! I'll be sending them out within the next few weeks, and I'll send a reminder if I haven't heard back from everyone before the big mail-out.
Thank you so much for allowing me to make this EP. I can't wait to share it with you!!!!!
Love and God bless,
Jessica
Update #2: Guess what yesterday was? TRACKING DAY!
Hello, backers!
Just wanted to let you know that yesterday was tracking day, and it was awesome!!!!!! Everything went smoothly, and the tracks turned out even better than I had imagined. I am so blessed to have been able to spend the better part of the day working and creating music with a great engineer and such talented musicians, including my very own husband, who is also a phenomenal producer. (Once again, I am reminded of how lucky I am to have someone in my life who fully understands my vision for this project...who also has the ability to make it even better than anything I could have dreamed up on my own.) We will be working on overdubs and vocals next week! :)
Love and God bless,
Jessica

With a sweet southern smile and a story that resembles a sad country song, Jessica Roadcap captivates her audiences with intricate melodies and a unique voice full of color and air. Straight from the heart of Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley, the twenty-four year old singer-songwriter has recently planted her roots in Nashville, Tennessee where she is emerging as an artist and songwriter in the Country/Americana music scene.
Jessica Roadcap grew up on a farm in small-town Virginia singing to farm animals, climbing hay bails and wandering through the stockyards humming melodies and making up songs. She took every opportunity she could to play for various festivals and events in and around her hometown. With her unique voice, she struggled to find the perfect cover songs to sing, so at the age of eleven, she began writing her own. Her parents’ divorce gave her plenty to write about.
Her debut album, appropriately entitled “Dance in a Hurricane,” is filled with songs that express ideas that arose in her own life and in the lives of all those around her during troubled times. Each of the eleven songs, written solely by Jessica or co-written with others, is performed passionately with a style that is all her own.
“No one can seem to put a finger on who I sound like,” Jessica says. “I’m often a product of a blender. Until I moved to Nashville, I didn’t appreciate the fact that I was different. I am different. And I’m just beginning to explore that blessing.”
