One Island, One World!

“One island, One World” is a music documentary that follows Boracay’s singer songwriter, Armand TJ, as he travels across the globe on a mission to celebrate, share, and spread the spirit and message of Boracay Island. This island-Mecca is located approximately 315 km south of Manila and 2 km off the northwest tip of Panay Island in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines.

Boracay music gatherings across the planet will take place in different venues as the islander reunites with the countless globe-trekkers who have been to Boracay through the years.

Having the shared experience of paradise, these globe-trekkers have become the emerging global community having a “long distance relationship” with Boracay, while staying forever connected to the soul of the island through the songs of Armand like “Bora-Bora-Boracay”, “21 days”, and “See you in the Philippines”. The documentary will feature interviews from people of all walks of life, sharing their thoughts on Boracay, and their defining moments on the island.

Boracay is not just an island, it’s a story. This story will be told through the music and words of Armand Tj as he teams up with filmmaker Jesse Maddox to capture what Boracay is really about, what paradise is really about, and how music unites us all. This story will also shed light to the situation the island of Boracay is facing: that of the environment and sustainable tourism, which reflects the global situation as a whole.

This year, 2012, will mark the beginning of the journey of music and soul, from one island to the rest of the planet. This project is also a call for a home coming of the globe-trekkers to the island of Boracay in the year 2016. This grand event will be a reunion of a lifetime.

This is why Armand sings, “I’ll see you in the Philippines…”

Episode One: Boracay Meets Europe!

This particular Kickstarter project is to raise funds for the first Episode: Boracay Meets Europe. Europe was chosen as the first leg of the journey because it was the European backpackers who were the first foreigners to discover Boracay thirty years ago. Armand has performed and travelled across Europe before in the “Boracay Meets Amsterdam” concert in 2009, and in the Let’s-Share Music festival in the Netherlands last 2011. With majority of his Boracay connections living in Europe, it’s easier to go around and create gatherings with the globe trekkers of Europe for the first chapter of the documentary. The aim is to do the tour this coming June/July 2012.

The pledges will fund the production/post-production expenses of this project (video and sound recordings, venue/studio rentals, dvd/cd printing and production), as well as the travel expenses for Armand Tj and Jesse.

The potential cities/countries to be visited in Europe will depend on how many pledges are coming from that particular area. However, the proposed itinerary for the gatherings will take place in England, Germany, France, Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Hungary and the Netherlands (If you want your country included, message us!)

We would greatly welcome pledges even for those outside Europe, because in helping this first chapter take off, we then can follow through with the next chapters in other parts of the world!
