Self Charged Sites by Jesse Gelaznik

The aim of this project is to construct a dome like structure in the woods which will be the site for a series of art collaborations, performances, film shoots and personal creative meditations. This site will be constructed as the first project for the Outpost residency program in Lenox MA. I will be transforming the woods into my studio. Every part of the process for this project will be contextualized and documented as art. The initial goal of the project will be to construct the structure. The construction consists of a 10' cylinder with an 8' radius and a 3' opening.

On either site of the opening or entrance there will be 10' x 2' pillars. On top of this structure will be a 4' dome constructed of wood, plaster and lathe.

The oculus of the dome will be a custom designed plexiglass pyramid that has a circular base 24".

Once the structure is complete I will begin painting the interior of the structure with an illustration based around a female form and the elements of nature. The purpose of the structure is to have a visually stimulating and acoustically enhanced space. A spot for creative and spiritual thought without being religious. I have a series of performers ready to do primarily improv performances, some with live music and others more film oriented. All of the performances will have ritualized themes and deal directly with nature. I will also be experimenting with making chimes and other naturally activated instruments for the trees of the area. The entire site will be charged with creative psychic energy which will, in turn, influence the mediums and themes of my creative projects while I'm there.
