THE CHAIN GANG is the hilarious 1,000-page ultra comic about a group of unwanted and forgotten bicycles led by Poppa Wheelie that band together to wreak havoc on the world, one neighborhood at a time!
Instead of waiting years for me to draw all 1,000 pages, I'm going to be releasing The Chain Gang in 24-page monthly issues. Each month will welcome a new limited-edition (only 100 copies) issue of The Chain Gang's ongoing, sprawling epic as they battle in junkyards, wrestle dogs, avoid the police, jump over people's houses, and ride inside whale skeletons. They're breaking all the rules and will stop at nothing in their quest to spread their trouble!
Money will be used for printing & shipping costs, distribution to get The Chain Gang in comic and bookstores across the globe, as well as advertising on websites and in comics & magazines.

A year or so ago I started coming up with ideas for a crazy, epic comic about a group of troublemaking bicycles and it reminded me of comics I would make with friends in fifth grade and junior high school. You know the comics I'm talking about, right? Wandering, crudely drawn, straightforward dialog...that kind of thing.
I thought it would be fun to bring back that sense of excitement and humor with comics and start a subscription, where you could order a new issue every month. Maybe have a club that you could join...Heck, it could be a 1,000-page ULTRA COMIC! Yeah!
And that's how The Chain Gang got started! With your help, this could be the beginning of a long-running series.

There will be 50 issues spread out over the next four years, with a new issue each and every month. As long as there are subscribers, there will be The Chain Gang!

Jess Smart Smiley is a 6'3" bipedal creature, native to Utah's rocky mountains. He spends his days drawing, cooking and biking, and drools over the thought of making pictures for a living. Jess can be seen selling and drinking lemonade on the corner, climbing tall trees, lifting extremely heavy things with his mind, and generally making merriment.
