Every good book needs a good book mark. These cute robot characters are a great addition to your sci-fi book collection.
These cute robot characters are the basis for a children's project entitled "The adventures of Max Gigarams". The project is in the developmental phase and these bookmarks will help develop the idea to the next level. I hope to develop it as a Television Pilot and a children's graphic novel. The style is a throwback to the Mid-Century modern aesthetic when we envisioned the year 2000 as a year of flying cars and housecleaning robots. The Roomba is the closest thing we have to that vision. But Max G will change all of that. The world I've created is endearing and a concept that will appeal to the child in all of us. With retro influenced colors and designs, the timelessness inherent in this project is perfect for marking your favorite passage in your favorite book. I'm raising money to further develop the art and peripheral characters to incorporate into the stories. I'll post a new story involving the characters each week. Read the set-up:
There once was a little boy who didn’t want to do his chores, and so he made a robot to do them instead. Since he made the robot like him, the robot didn’t want to do chores and in turn made a robot boy to do the chores, who made a robot to do the chores. What happens when the little boy tells the little boy robots to do his chores? Mayhem… to the Max.
Caleb needed a new friend, a true friend that would be with him forever, and do what he was told. So with smart phone in hand he sat down at his desk, and built one that would obey his every command, well almost every command. OK, so maybe not any command, but our story starts when that robot built a robot boy, which built a third robot and that triple threat spells trouble for Caleb. The first Bot was named Max Gigarams. He was a friend that Caleb could communicate to with a special app he designed for his Smart phone and Max could tell Caleb when he needed to be recharged, or let outside to drain. Caleb made Max to be just like him; fun loving and adventurous, an explorer who was eager to flip over every stone in search of bugs, play video games all day and play jokes on his friends (sometimes parents even). Now Caleb realized quickly that his new friend was quite capable of doing any chore that was assigned to Caleb and soon enough all of Caleb's chores were Max’s chores. Since Max was like Caleb, he didn’t like chores at all, and he passed them on to Red, a robot boy who speaks in blips, blops, clicks and clacks, and not much else. Red is the brawn to Max’s brain, but Red didn’t like doing chores either, so he passes them on to 11. So when Caleb is told to do the dishes, He tells Max and then goes outside to ride his bike. Max tells Red to do the dishes, who tells 11, who misunderstands and makes all the dishes broken or dirty instead of clean and put away, Red usually joins into the fun for a quick game of dish Frisbee, and Max usually just sits back to enjoy the show. When Caleb returns from his bike ride, there is a big surprise waiting for him in the kitchen, and an angry mom waiting for him to do his chores properly, stop playing with his bots and be responsible.Every episode Caleb tries to shirk his responsibilities and ends up working twice as hard after his Bots make a mess of things and leave a trail of destruction in their wake. The Bots try their best and rarely succeed, but their good intentions always make staying mad at them a little difficult. In a world where a little boy should mind his parents, (but never does) and little robots should mind their makers (but never get it right), the only outcome is sheer pleasure for the viewer and hysterical situations for the Boy robots.
I wanted to share the fun designs that will visually populate this world with a limited set of bookmarks. Only 1,000 sets will be made, using recycled materials and printed in the USA. Back this project now to get your set and watch it evolve!
The Bot Marks will be printed with recycled materials with a matte finish. The same thickness as a business card. They will be color on the front and black & white on the back.
