About this project
Welcome to Videogame Music in Context, an investigation of soundtracks for games featuring prominent designers and composers. Guests include Nobuo Uematsu (Final Fantasy), Hip Tanaka (Creatures Inc.), Daisuke Amaya (Cave Story) and Baiyon (PixelJunk Lifelike).
Outside of the interviews, the project has entailed filming live chip music performances for Nullsleep's Collapsed Desires tour for a separate DVD. In addition, Spanish developer Locomalito has joined us to create for their freeware shooter Hydorah a 2-disc CD soundtrack and remix album.

Videogame Music in Context in Japan DVD: recent video interviews with Nobuo Uematsu (Final Fantasy), Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill), Hip Tanaka (Game Boy Camera) interview by Baiyon, Hideyuki Fukasawa (Super Street Fighter IV), Hideki Sakamoto (echochrome ii), Noriyuki Asakura (Tenchu 4), Takashi Tokita & Naoshi Mizuta (Final Fantasy Legends), and other game creators to be announced soon. These would all be in Japanese with English subtitles.

Independent Videogame Music in Context DVD: recent video interviews with Baiyon (PixelJunk Lifelike), Dan Paladin (Castle Crashers), Daisuke Amaya (Cave Story), Shinji Hosoe & Ayako Saso of SuperSweep (Prismatic Solid), Nigoro (La-Mulana), Takashi Iura (PixelJunk Monsters), Daniel Olsén (ilomilo) and other independent game creators to be announced soon. This would be a mix of English language and Japanese with English subtitles.

Nullsleep Collapsed Desires Tour DVD: live performances (not interviews) from the 2010 Collapsed Desires Tour, featuring chip music artists Nullsleep, Trash80, Starpause, Crashfaster, Mr. Spastic, and omake bonus material from the 2010 Tokyo Blip Festival. This one contains some swear words, so be prepared for it.

Hydorah Original & Arrange Soundtrack Album: 2 compact discs, which would be designed graphically by Spanish independent game developer Locomalito. Disc one would include the original soundtrack to Hydorah by Gryzor87. Disc two would feature arrangements by Matheus Manente (IWADON Tribute Album), Magnus Palsson (VVVVVV), Mattias Häggström Gerdt (Cobalt), Pocket Groovy (You Have No Legs), DJ MasterKOHTA (Cafe La Siesta), & ThePlasmas (Here Comes a New Challenger II Turbo), among others.
