Variations on a climactic boss battle (Mad Machine unlocked)
The Nubuwo Summer Bundle is now 85% funded. To set the mood for this crucial final stretch of the initiative, a trio of Rokko Chan Soundtracks battle tracks have been unlocked on the project's Bandcamp page. They are by artists based in Japan, Indonesia and the United States.
Asagen's "Mad machine" is the final boss battle theme found in Rokko Chan. As the most intense and threatening audio cue in the game, it invited electronic music arrangements to represent the danger posed by Dr Mad's airborne mechanized armor. The showdown between madness and sanity pits a scientist dehumanized by his ambitions against a robot whose only concern is to protect humanity from harm.
Sanditio & His Little-Sound Orchestra, based in Jakarta, contributes a chip remix for "Mad machine." It represents the first time the music producer and illustrator has joined a Nubuwo-organized compilation. Sanditio's sounds can be found on SoundCloud, including a Ramones' Blitzkrieg Bop chiptuned remix, while his illustrations can be viewed on deviantART. A mix of art, music and video can be found on his eye-popping tumblr page.
Contributing a sinister dance music arrangement of "Mad machine" is Pocket Groovy, aka Yoshi Miyamoto. Previously the musician joined the compilations IWADON, Hydorah Arranged Tracks and Splatterhouse Butchered by Various Artists, while also providing translation and sound design on the Videogame Music in Context video series. As the leader of localization on Nubuwo, he is responsible for overseeing the translation of content into Japanese on ja.nubuwo.com. Based in Los Angeles, he is currently composing music for independent game projects and other media.
