TEASER TRAILER
ABOUT THE FILM
Singularity is a sci-fi action short film set in the near future about a civil war between humans and sentient androids. The film tells the story of a group of Delta force soldiers who are ambushed by androids as they attempt to rescue the US president.

The film is being shot on anamorphic 35mm film. We think this gives the best aesthetic, something that isn’t attainable yet with digital photography. The idea is to create a unique vision by combining old school film-making with cutting edge digital techniques.

WHY KICKSTARTER?
We have been working really hard on the movie and currently have a fine cut. However the movie isn’t finished and we need your help! We are looking for funds to help with some pickups and the re-shooting of a key sequence in the film, the last stand battle. We could go ahead and complete with what we have but we really want to make this short as amazing as possible. So we are reaching out to the Kickstarter community for help to complete the film to a level that everyone will be proud off.

Our funding goal of $7000 is the minimum we need to move ahead and finish the film. It will allow us 2 days on set and will be allocated as follows:
- Film negative $1600
- Film processing $800
- Camera kit hire (Moviecam SL + anamorphic lens kit) $3000
- Special FX equipment (hazer, smoke machine, fans and air mortars) $1000
- Catering/on-set costs $600
If we manage to exceed our goal (we really hope to!), funding will be used to get more time on location and then to make big improvements in post - film scanning / digital intermediate, VFX, music and sound mix/foley.

Every cent we receive will go towards making this film look and sound better. Please don’t hold back just because the funding goal has been met. You’ll see and hear every dollar in the result!

Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
Filmmaking is inherently a challenging process. There is no doubt that Singularity is a very ambitious short film to make on a shoestring budget. We see this project having two distinct challenges.
The first challenge is to film enough coverage in the time we have on set to finish the film. The goal of $7000 allows us 2 days on set. To avoid delays and make the absolute best use of time we have built a full edit of the film filling in the blanks with digital pre-visualization (simple 3D animation depicting the action and camera angles). The shots can then be viewed by the whole team before we go on set and everyone is on the same page as to what we need in the amount of time available. Additionally we will be prioritising shots based on our previz edit and will drop low priority shots if time manages to get the better of us. This means we will always come away with the bare minimum to get this film finished.
The second challenge is the visual effects. There is a risk that the visual effects snowball causing post production to overrun and take significantly longer than expected. This is a problem even large Hollywood features face. Fortunately the Director and Producer have a proven track record producing visual effects for large feature films and have assembled a highly experience VFX crew. We are committed to producing high quality visuals that work within the story of the film. We believe visual effects should be viewed as part of the film itself and therefore once they work in the edit they are complete. Many projects get bogged down on tweaking individual frames, something we think is counterintuitive to the filmmaking process. We believe this will be a challenging task, but one that we can overcome.
