About this project
THE GLASS SLIPPER is the second feature film by Jarrod Whaley (whose debut HELL IS OTHER PEOPLE premiered at this year's Cinequest Film Festival and is currently bouncing around the festival circuit). Very (VERY) loosely inspired by the Gustave Flaubert novella UN COEUR SIMPLE, the film focuses upon a naive, pious young girl from a rural part of the country who is suddenly thrust into the chaotic, yuppie-hippie world of Silicon Valley when she takes on a position as the nanny in a recently broken home. As her faith is tested by hardship, and as she is offered opportunities to assimilate into the liberal Northern California culture, she must come to a decision: The slipper fits; will she put it on?
This project has been designed specifically to be produced on as small a budget as possible, but even "no-budget" films come with costs. Not only will pledges help to cover the costs of basic production supplies (tape stock, hard drives, etc.), but will also in several cases cover rental of locations--among other critical logistical costs.
