The Story

What does a corrupt pharmaceutical company, the war in Afghanistan, and the murder of two young women all have in common?… They all play a part in the story of THE HOUSE. In THE HOUSE, Jack Peterson is unwilling to deal with his past. So, his past comes back to deal with him. The story concludes with the philosophical question: “Can anyone really change?”



A Unique Crowd-Funding Campaign

This is a unique crowd-funding campaign. We are trying to hit "two birds with one stone" by raising the pre-production funds via kickstarter and hopefully drawing investor interest to fund the remainder of the film production budget. When this crowd-funding project reaches it’s goal, the people who supported THE HOUSE will prove the viable "monetary value" of the film to potential investors. Presently, we are in contact with potential investors, but, with the recession, many investors in America are hesitant to invest in films as they are considered “risk ventures.“ If a film already raises it's pre-production funds by pre-selling DVD's, imagine the monetary return when the film is completed and shown in theaters?



The Monetary Value

One of the main points of this campaign is to show the amount of real audience interest in this film. The goal of $50K ($50,000) for this kickstarter project is exactly 25% of the lowest budget ($200K) required to produce the film in its entirety. A tough goal, but a very dramatic statement to potential investors regarding the monetary value of this project.



In order to reach our goal, we are requesting that each supporter ONLY donates $25. In exchange for your support, you will receive a Collector's DVD (or Blu-ray) after the theatrical run of the film. By limiting each person to a donation of ONLY $25, each person will directly correlate/represent one DVD (or Blu-ray) pre-sold. So, for the goal to be met we will need 2,000 supporters to pre-buy a copy of THE HOUSE. We believe that this film, and even this kickstarter campaign, will redefine how people see independent films and also attest to the massive amount of people who support them!



What We Will Do With The Money?

As stated above, the $50K is will be used as pre-production funds which entails the following: Purchasing necessary equipment, props, sets, costumes, location scouting, insurance, legal services, and making a down payment toward the music composition and visual effects pre-visualization. In short, these funds would propel THE HOUSE to the next phase: actually shooting the film (production).



What Do I Get For Supporting?

For your $25 donation you will receive a copy of the Collector's Edition on DVD or Blu-ray (shipping and handling included), updates on the status of the film production, and your name posted on our Film Contributor's Walls (to be posted on jbmovies.com and thehousefilmproject.com) and listed during our Global Release Party.



The Special Collector's DVD

The special DVD/Blu-ray that we are setting aside for pre-sale will only be available to buy prior to the completion of the production. This special DVD/Blu-ray will have selective "deleted scenes." These are not the short "snippets" that are usually on Hollywood studio DVD's, but entire scenes developing more of the back-story of Jack and Anne Peterson. Unfortunately, the director already knows these scenes will be cut because of time/length issues. Two of the scenes will have a character that is mentioned throughout the film, but never gets actual screen time. Currently, we are pursuing an Oscar award-winning actor to play this character. (The director is in discussions with the agent of said actor.)



This Is An All Or Nothing Campaign

Kickstarter campaigns are all or nothing. Either we reach our goal of $50K, or we receive nothing and no money is collected from the supporter (Likewise, no one will receive a DVD/Blu-ray if the goal is not reached.) This is one of the reasons that John W. Bosley, the director, pushed for a kickstarter campaign instead of pre-selling DVD's from the company website. Kickstarter gives the audience the assurance that the project will happen (if the goal is reached), plus it gives the filmmaker the security of knowing that the film project will be moving forward. HOWEVER, even if the goal isn’t reached, each person who contributes to the campaign will still have their name listed on our websites as one of the contributors and you will also be listed in our thank you section of the "Global Release Party."
