Help us build a platform to honor veterans in a unique way. The “Veteran’s Legacy” platform will do 3 things: HONOR the sacrifice of every Veteran and their families, Supply an ideal place to REMEMBER and capture the full military experience of every Veteran, and Serve as an agent to HEAL all areas of a Veteran’s life. This book, “ A Veteran’s Legacy…in Love” will be the catalyst for a sustainable platform and will celebrate the love stories of servicemen and women using their own stories and pictures.

WHAT IS “A VETERAN’S LEGACY…IN LOVE”?
“A Veteran’s Legacy…in Love” is a book that celebrates the love stories of servicemen and women using their own stories and pictures. These are stories of men and women who left loved ones behind, the emotions of being apart, the feeling of fighting for loved ones back home, and the celebratory reunion of when they return. Using these couple’s pictures, we will capture the images of their love story that mean the most to them and understand why that picture is so meaningful to them, essentially creating a lasting legacy of their love story for generations to come. Additionally, journal pages will be included that the reader can record their own family’s love stories and add their own personal pictures, creating a personal legacy of love for their own family.
THE PICTURE:
From the Artist: "The Johnson’s wedding day kiss picture reminded me of the Times Square picture of the sailor kissing the nurse as he returned from war. I saw the Johnson's picture as the “Rural Version” of that Times Square image. I began considering just how many of the Greatest Generation were not from big cities, but rather were from small towns and farms across America. The Johnson image certainly speaks to and can serve as a memorial to that demographic."
"Secondly, the Times Square “Kiss” tells a story of how the relief and jubilation of the end of World War II caused a random sailor to grab a random nurse and give her a kiss. The Johnson image; however, depicts the committed man in uniform kissing his new bride before going off to fight and win a war. It is not about kissing a perfect stranger, but kissing the woman whom you married, whom you fought for, whom you came back to and whom you partnered with to build the greatest country the world has ever known!"

HOW YOU CAN HELP:
We need your help! In order to make this book a reality, we need the project to be funded so that the stories and pictures can be collected and the book can be published. While this book is intended to include Veterans from every generation, our urgency lies in the fact that we are losing 1,000 World War II veterans every day. These are stories that will never be captured. Help us save these stories for generations to come.

HOW DO I SUBMIT A STORY?
You can send your story and pictures to: veteranslegacyinlove@gmail.com
Stories need to be no more than 1,200 words and they can be personal stories and “as told to” stories. Stories should be submitted with your full name, street address, phone number and email address. Stories should be in PDF or Word document (.doc) format. Pictures may be submitted to the same email address and should be in JPG, TIFF, or PDF format and should include your full name, street address, phone number, and email address.
