About this project
Here we go! After many years of playing music, I am finally recording an album. The project is both exciting and daunting at the same time, but I have a good feeling that the excitement will win out in short time. I've already made progress tracking a song, and after shooting the video above, I want to record the acoustic piece that you hear in the beginning. I have written many songs over the years. Some are still works-in-progress and some complete, and I'm looking forward to sifting through them as well as writing some brand new material. I'll be enlisting some top-notch musician friends to record with and can't wait to hear the results. Since I decided to do this, I have spent every waking moment thinking about the project and I can't wait to get started!
The Album
As you already know, guitar is my passion, so this album will be chock full of riffs. But I really want to strike the balance between a "great guitar album" and a "great song album." I'm looking forward to that challenge. I'll also be experimenting quite a bit with sounds and instruments. I'd like to use electric guitar, acoustic, dobro, ukelele, use a drumstick on guitar (i've done it and it's very cool!), hire horns, piano, organ and who knows what else?
The Bigger Picture
The bigger picture here is that after many years of trying to fill a creative void by working as a graphic designer, I am making my way back to music for a living. In other words, "living my dream!" I'm not sure how I got off track but I'm not spending anymore time thinking about it... I'm just gonna DO IT! This album is sort of a launching pad for my music career and I plan on it being the first album of many.
You
How will you be involved? Well, besides your pledge and reward I want you to be kept "in the know" on all things going on with the album. I'll be sending updates that will include video and pictures, but I want to come up with some ideas that go beyond that. They might include, pre-listening parties, help with song and artwork selection, Skype sessions, etc. It will all be a very fluid process and I hope you'll enjoy being involved.
Thanks!
Thank you all in advance and I look forward to making this something you'll be happy to listen to, and proud to be a part of!
