About this project

Death Runs in the Family is about Gary, a ten year old who's overweight and constantly picked on. It deals with the issues of what happens when you're stuck side by side with a family member you can barely stand, especially after they've become a zombie. For an answer to the many questions surrounding Grandpa's recent zombification, Gary and his Grandfather must travel clear across the country. Not understanding the turmoil, they encounter such things as gangs, love, demon librarians, underage drinking, Frankenstein creatures, and friendship.

This is a novel that has been through multiple editing stages, and is the first of a planned trilogy that is already all mapped out. The trilogy will end up spanning the entire life of this boy known as Gary Helty. Well, at lest from 5th grade to the retirement home, not the grave, that would be depressing.

It's surprising how difficult it is holding a full time job while writing 110,000 word novel can be, especially while being a newlywed at the time. Wife needs attention; it's a fact. If I'd known what I was getting into before, I probably wouldn't have had the ***** to write this. I feel that it has enough of an edge, or enough comedic value that will surely be something you haven't read before. What I want to do is get a small run of "Death Runs in the Family" as a starting point. I will send out as many as possible to review websites, magazines, and whoever can help further its success. It will be available on Amazon.com, and I will be trying for other various online book retailers
.
I will use all the funds I receive for a more professional edit on the "Death Runs in the Family", making sure that it is ready for press. I'd also like to have some better text designed for the cover art, & print out as many copies of the book as possible. It would be an honor for me to be able to make this available for the world, and help me finish up the remainder of the trilogy. As long as there's demand, I will be encouraged to push the trilogy ahead of my other projects and flesh it out.

I've offered as many rewards as I could possibly think of, and hopefully this will make it worthwhile for you to contribute to my dream. If there's any questions, feel free to message me via Kickstarter or on Myspace.

Your support truly means everything to me.

My name is Jason Stryker. Writing is my passion, a lesser passion is playing hot lava tag at the park. To date I've written 5 novels and a novella, and am sneaking my way into indie film production as we speak. Creating something meaningful to someone has always been my goal, even if it is just cheering them up at a low point in their life.

I live in small town Minnesota, enduring below zero temperatures with my wife and cat named Penguin. We eat a lot of macaroni and cheese, tater tots, and tuna fish. In the summer we cross our fingers that we don't have to turn the air conditioner on. Obviously, we're not rich but both striving towards our artistic goals.

I'm a horror/cult movie buff, indie romantic comedy fan, and an Arnold action film follower. I also enjoy the occasional bad movie, reading about "fictional" things such as ghosts and dabble in cryptozoology. Taco Bell is also good. I love their constantly rotating dollar menu.
